Several chose to graduate after the redshirt Jr year (Collier, Mays, Stokes, Hodges)
3(correction 4) incomming frosh...missing

RB Brandon English
DL Shannon Smith

I'm pretty sure I read that Joseph left the team and that Maynard was gone for good, but if Cooper is gone, that would be another blow. Hopefully he was just accidentally left off the roster.Siborg wrote:Missing
OT Fahn Cooper???? I've heard nothing about him not being here. This is a painful loss if its true.
DL Hunter Maynard...Still wondering what knd of suspension he got.
DB Johnny Joseph?? No information on him either.

Cooper is mentioned as returning....

The departures of Maynard, Shaq Hall and Joseph are mentioned.
Re the Freshmen....they did say there were going to be some grayshirts likely from this year's class...maybe those three will start in January and count towards 2014?

Hopefully nothing happened between the time that article was written and now. We obviously lost our RT, hopefully we didn't lose our LT now as well.Flipper wrote:http://www.sent-trib.com/bgsu-sports/qu ... e-07-02-13

Based on something I saw on Instagram I think Cooper is no longer with the team.
Wow, did I really just type that?
Malik Stokes appears to be missing as well.

That's another uber-talented starting offensive tackle lost due to off field issues for the second consecutive year if we count Kyle Bryant from 2012.
Combined with the others and player retention is now officially an issue under Clawson. This is derail-a-season bad. What the f*** could have happened?

From what I have heard Fahn Cooper may be having some team conduct issues. Nothing specific was discussed but I imagine he will be looking at some sort of punishment before playing (i.e. Suspension) Hopefully he is still on the team.
Re: FB 2013 rosters are updated...sort of
Wonderful....thanks for the info at least. I guess we'll see what happens. Funny how when last year ended we were expected to return everyone but Roussos at RT. Then our starting RB in Samuel leaves school (not blaming him, I understand why, but as a Falcon fan it's a blow) and now Cooper may be gone as well. Any guesses who we project to see as our starting OT's now?sum1udontknow wrote:From what I have heard Fahn Cooper may be having some team conduct issues. What happened to the freshmen? Any word?

Would you prefer Clawson keeping players with conduct issues on the team? A retention problem would be guys transferring and or leaving the program left and right.mscarn wrote:That's another uber-talented starting offensive tackle lost due to off field issues for the second consecutive year if we count Kyle Bryant from 2012.

I hope Cooper isn't gone and it's disappointing anytime a 18-22 year old throws away an opportunity like they have. But, they all know what the coaching staff and university expects from them.
As far as who will start at the tackles position, my guesses are; Christian Piazzi (6'7 293 RS SO.) will be at one tackle and the other will be Logan Dietz (6'5 288 RS FR.).
Last year everyone was worried when Kyle Bryant was kicked off the team. RS Freshman Fahn Cooper stepped up and from game 1 against Florida to the bowl against San Jose State played very well. I expect the same this year from someone, there is talent in the offensive line group. His screw up is someone elses opportunity.

Geez 137, you need to get with the program.Falcon137 wrote: Would you prefer Clawson keeping players with conduct issues on the team? A retention problem would be guys transferring and or leaving the program left and right.
Everyone knows the proper way to suspend a player is to suspend him from playing in the opening series of a game. Or suspend him from the first half of the game at most.
Or make players spend six days studying in the coaches office so that they do not miss a game.
You (and Clawson) should take a lesson from Urban and Frank S.

Once is an abberation. Twice makes me question what systems we have in place to effectively monitor/police player behavior to ensure situations don't escalate to the point of removing a critical member of the team at a critical time of the year, i.e. the start of training camp. This is the second year it's happened with the projected left tackle. I hope you're correct and that we've recruited well enough to absorb the loss.Falcon137 wrote:Would you prefer Clawson keeping players with conduct issues on the team? BTW, Bryant was accepted at Youngstown State and is on the radar of NFL scouts. The YSU coach took a little shot at our strength program as well:

I don't recall our OL having a lot of issues with strength or conditioning the last couple of years....maybe Bryant wasn't putting in the work? Maybe that's part of why he's at YSU instead of a BCS program?
I think it's a bit much to say Clawson has an issue with retention...we have depth to work with because retention has improved greatly over the prior regime. These are kids that are coming into the program as 18 year-olds...you aren't going to be 100% correct...or even 85% correct figuring out who's gioing to fit or be able to handle all the demands three years into the future

When is it the players responsibility to be well behaved, and why is it the coaching staff's fault. They are only allowed so much contact with the player during the off-season, and this needs to start falling on the players. They made bad choices, and now they and their teammates have to live with the consequences. Coaches can only learn so much during recruiting, and sometimes they miss things.mscarn wrote:Once is an abberation. +1 to both of these. So I guess that's a +2.daspollak wrote: When is it the players responsibility to be well behaved, and why is it the coaching staff's fault.
