Sounds like a depth issue as he had been moved to the third team. Best of luck to him.

So...we're not at 85 scholarships anymore. Anthon? Bueller?

Anthon is gone....just accept the fact and move on.
We must have some sick depth at CB if a guy like McCoy is third string...

Departure: accepted. Official explanation of scholarship max-out being a factor given the inevitability of attrition (e.g. McKoy, Devon and White, James): skepticism remains.
Beat Tulsa. Intercept their passes and run them back for touchdowns. Laugh at them. Hope they do well later in the season to help our strength of schedule.

Bummer. I always thought McKoy was a very mature and well spoken guy. He will have great successes in life wherever he goes next.

Re: McKoy Leaves Team
Damn...... While this might not be considered as big of a loss like starters Samuel and Cooper, McKoy was an experienced player. The thing the worries me about losing experienced guys like these three who have played and would have played is when the injuries start coming during the season. Because you know they are coming. Yes we can now say it's up to someone else to move up and start or get playing time, but these losses affect our depth charts and experience. There's nothing we can do about losing these guys but move on, but I hope this is the last of having to see it.
GO BG!!!

Ok...so are we going to say "that could have been Samuel's schollie" every time someone leaves? Is there going to be a time limit on that?

Devon has transferred to Youngstown State.

Re: McKoy Leaves Team
The point should actually have been made after James White when we got down to 84. After that it's just redundant.Flipper wrote:Ok...so are we going to say "that could have been Samuel's schollie" every time someone leaves? We were just recently told scholarships played a significant factor in our most talented player and biggest proven offensive weapon not returning to the team and then a few days into camp two scholarships suddenly open up. As I said before, we can absorb the loss and the world isn't coming to an end, but when our best player picks up and leaves I'd at least like to understand the facts and the whole truth.
A point was made by another poster that Samuel wanted to stay with his family while Clawson didn't want to alienate the other players by bending over backwards to accomodate him and it was a mutual breakup. That seems much closer to the truth than this scholarship fiction.

Re: McKoy Leaves Team
Our best player left? No, Chris Gallon is still on the roster....besides...what difference does any of this make? He left for awhile and everyone involved agreed about what he would be entitled to if he desired to come back. Samuel decided he didn't want to be here under those circumstances, so he left. It was his right to do that as it was the coach's right to ask him to abide by the terms they agreed to prviously.
This is a non-issue....

Maybe if we whine about it enough these guys will come back.

Seems like maybe we should have considered something like this might happen because it happens every year and gotten the best player on our team to come back.Flipper wrote:Anthon is gone....just accept the fact and move on.

Or we could just talk about it on a discussion board.kdog27 wrote:Maybe if we whine about it enough these guys will come back.
If we talk about the roses and the unicorns and all the positive stuff that we are happy about that doesn't do anything either.

OK but how many times can we say the same thing then?Globetrotter wrote:Or we could just talk about it on a discussion board.kdog27 wrote:Maybe if we whine about it enough these guys will come back.
