It seems like every loudmouth college football TV commentator is contracturally obligated to criticize the number of bowls and/or single out a couple with goofy sponsor names for ridicule. They are never asked to justify their stance and usually never do.
What they forget is that people watch bowl games on television, even the minor ones, in large numbers. The ratings are the envy of many other sports, including those with interminably long and often meaningless regular seasons like baseball and pro basketball. The game attendance is poor because the local markets they're played in have no compelling connection to the teams/schools. College football comes and goes quickly and deserves all the exposure it can get.

It's got electrolytes......
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: New Bowl
Steinbrecher said today the MAC will have 1 possibly 2 more primary tie-ins.
Re: New Bowl
Living in Atlanta, Montgomery is not so I'm good with that destination.
Charleston is still trying and would be ok with me too.
I'd like to see another try in Toronto(dome).

Bowl in Bahamas is expected to be C-USA vs MAC, with Boca Raton C-USA vs either the MAC, AAC, or Mountain West

I'm pretty sure Detroit has casinos. It also has Windsor. If you want gambling and adult entertainment, Detroit wins. Plus, I'd rather we play in a nice, practically brand new NFL stadium with a nice fan turnout than another rusty 25,000 seater in the middle of Alabama. I was at the GMAC Bowl watching Tulsa pound us in the pouring rain, and the Humanitarian Bowl getting hit with snowballs thrown by Idaho fans. I had fun, don't get me wrong, but I think playing at Ford Field would have beat the snot out of either, in terms of the game experience itself.transfer2BGSU wrote:TEN Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Courses located within a two hour drive? Casinos? A little over three hours to Biloxi.
A little over three hours to Panama City.
AND....
AND...
You're only two hours away from everyone's favorite Fox10 Sports Anchor - Simone Eli.

Unfortunately Ford Field is still in Detroit. It's a choice between snowballs inside the stadium or stray bullets once you're out of the stadium...jg4242 wrote: and the Humanitarian Bowl getting hit with snowballs thrown by Idaho fans.
