Well, Coach Imstufft deserves some praise for turning the spRockets around after a patently horrific start, especially on defense. And, as noted here before, he put his team in a position to win the games they needed to win (i.e. BG, NIU), got the conference title and the resulting bowl bid.
Nice to see GB get some love, too. And while Hoeppner surprised me at first glance, the guy did guide his team to a division title after losing Big Ben.

He won all the regular season important games. GB was #2 on that list I don't think he did a better coaching job.cowboyjoe wrote:First coach of the year after losing first 2 games by 126-35. He didn't have his team ready to go at the beginning...nice turnaround but not coach of the year w/a start like that.

When does "Warden Of The Year" come out ??
and what's the 'Book'; Tresel or Jabba ?
SO, was this on the Front Page of the Cols. Deathpatch??
HA HA HA
That little weasel in the vest isn't fooling so many people any more; is he?
I didn't realize Dan Simrell was at Findlay.
Looks like a MAC sweep in OH. he he he
GO FALCONS !!

Well, when you win 100 games in a row (or whatever it was), winning becomes the norm and you don't get credit for that. Coahch of the Year awards usually only go to a guy whose team had low expectation and they over achieved. Of course, not sure how Amstutz won then since they were a pre-season MAC favorite and were near top 25 team that lost huge their first two games.jacojdm wrote:larry kehres has another undefeated regular season and loses by a field goal in the DIII semi finals, and he only musters seventh place?UK Peregrine wrote:2004 Columbus Dispatch Ohio College Football Coach of the Year

Cue the music
One of the pie-eating contest plaques will have to forfeit it's position on the mantle now...
Brookhart winning MAC Coach of the Year was surprising given Frye's return and the fact Owens won 7 games his final year and got canned.

OK so who in Ohio deserves it more? I would say akrons's coach would be a good pick but how impressive is it to go 6-5 when you play in the MAC East? ...not verycowboyjoe wrote:Top 30 team and pre season mac favorites and you get beat by huge scores in your first 2 games when you are underdogs by 3 and 10...ask Urban Meyer if non conference games matter. Coach of the year..no way!
