Yeah and Mizzou twice. Spanked the crap out of both of them in 2002. Neither of them were that great but winning multiple games against BCS teams was impressive at the time.

Oooohhh. We beat Kansas and Missouri. But we didn't go bowling.

In 2001 had we beat Marshall, Western Michigan and Miami, we'd have gone bowling.

Or Northern Illinois and Toledo in 2002 we would have gone bowling. Beating Missouri and Kansas did what for us?

(Oh, and Urban did it with Gary Blackney's recruits)

Kansas and Missouri both sucked those years....they were seven and eight loss seasons for both in 2001/2002 IIRC. Brandon knocked off Purdue, Northwestern, Pittsburgh when they were good...and a top 15 NIU squad during his reign of terror

So far as the QB situation goes...if Johnson doesn't show more passing downfield, he'll be less effective as the season wears on. It's tough to move the ball consistently if you're only forcing the defense to cover the first 10-15 yards off the ball
I read the player participation report....Hopgood was credited with one tackle, I'm assuming you're right...it'd been on special teams for a RB. :-k

Yeah, he did it with Blackney's recruits after Blackney could only win 3 games in two year WITH them. Sorry, but you can't undervalue what Urban did for this program.

I bet we see Martin, Hopgood, and Givens next week. I believe the coaches will show our depth and talent in the backfield to MAC opposition.

Hopgood was limping off the sidelines with a trainer assisting him shortly after that tackle. In the second half, he was on the sidelines without pads. Hopefully he is back next week.

Hi, Ohio fan here. You guys looked great Thursday night. That was a great win and you are going to be tough for anyone to beat this year. See you in Noverber.

This would be my reaction as well. If you've got thoroughbreds already running, you don't replace them just to replace them.

Now, if they need to use these guys for depth (due to fatigue or injury or even a special play) fine. But you don't change a winning formula just to change it.

The "he did it with (put former coache's name here) recruits" argument/excuse is one of the lamest in all of sports.

It only shows how versatile and GOOD a coach is when he can come in and take recruits from a losing program the year prior and turn them into winners immediately.

For the record: Meyer also went unbeaten at Utah with a lot of the prior coach's recruits and won a national title at Florida the same way.

I suppose that makes him a really bad coach in your eyes, then, right?
