No need to go over recent history...whole new season and this is a obstacle we need to get over on the way to winning the East. Kent is still a dangerous team and we'll need our A game, ala Tulsa. Play like we did last Thursday night and we should come out of Dix with a win.
Should be in the lots no later than 8am...anyone that wants to stop at the Falcon Nest after the game is more than welcome. We'll be watching college ball all night. 15-20 min drive from Dix Stadium to our nest.
It's a short work week so that makes it even better.
BEAT KENT!!!

FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
I must admit I wasn't all that excitedcaboutvthe season but after game one I will be watching. I appreciate all you die hard fans but as my interest in hoops falls its eating into football. Very excited to see what this team can do against kents offense and would love to see what Matt Johnson does.

Yeah... it is nice to have a game in our own back yard... I also like being able to drive 20 minutes instead of two hours to go watch my Falcons... (I live in Uniontown)
This is one of the - if not THE - biggest games of the year for us. Period. Right out of the gate we must face the defending East Champ, a team that has beaten us three years in a row, on the road. I love winning every and any game, but these are the ones that count the most. The non-conference games are great, but even if we go 4-0 in them, they won't get us to Detorit or a MAC Championship, and on the flip side, a single loss in a game like this could prevent us from getting there as well. We win this game, we're in the driver's seat in the second week already. But if we lose this game, we could be chasing it all season long and it could cost us in the end. This game is going to tell me way more about who we are than the Tulsa game did. And there's way, way more riding on it as well. We're going to find out really soon if we're contenders or still pretenders.
If Archer doesn't play, I could see BG winning this game by a margin about the same as the Tulsa game. I just don't think Kent's offense will be able to have sustained drives against the BG defense.
If he does play and is himself, it's a completely different game. We all know about his ability to turn the game on 1 or 2 touches.
Should also be a great environment. Kent had 7,000 students come out for their opener vs Liberty and BG already has 2 bus loads of fans coming into town, plus those of us who are making the drive ourselves. Weather looks great, low 80s plenty of sunshine.
I know we harp on our attendance, and rightfully so IMO....but I was surprised that KENT drew over 20K for their Liberty game....would have to be largest crowd I've heard them having in years, though last year might have been different due to E. Champion status... PD article kind of intimated that Archer's publicity et al certainly helped to draw folks to their game.
And did anyone notice who the current coach at Liberty is? I'll give you a hint...former E.Div. MAC coach who went elsewhere first.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Turner Gill, glad he landed on his feet somewhere. He was dealt a bad hand in Kansas with no talent.

I watched Haynes press conference yesterday, he said he's day-to-day. He's not going to tip his hand one way or another unless it was a major injury. My guess is he sees limited snaps.

I quit worrying about our attendance a long time ago. I want the fans who want to be there attending the games.
I let the Toledo fans complain about our attendance. For some dumb reason, our attendance figures upset them. It's quite amusing to read their comments on the MAC BBS.

I got the feeling from a few KSU fans that Archer might be a drama queen with his injury. They seem to feel he's afraid to play hurt.
