Up next...Kent State
Re: Up next...Kent State
Seems like those super speedy players are only a threat when they are 100 %. When less than that they are just an undersized target.

Re: Up next...Kent State
Pat Forde giving the game some love:
Bowling Green-Kent State (30). You want an actual, vibrant rivalry? One with a past, a present and a future? This is it, friend. They play for an actual trophy, however lamely named: the Anniversary Award, which was first given out to the winner in 1985 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of both schools. This is the 81st meeting of the two Mid-American Conference stalwarts. And it happens to be a pretty interesting game, with Bowling Green coming off a surprising romp over Tulsa and the Golden Flashes 1-0 under new coach Paul Haynes. It may not be the Iron Bowl – but on Sept. 7, it will be as close as we get.

Champion status... PD article kind of intimated that Archer's publicity et al certainly helped to draw folks to their game.
And did anyone notice who the current coach at Liberty is? I'll give you a hint...former E.Div. MAC coach who went elsewhere first.

Re: Up next...Kent State
I'm very excited about the potential of this Bowling Green team and I have a strong feeling that the boys have bought in and Clawson has them laser-focused. It's nice to not have a layoff game in week 2. I'd much rather play Kent now and Murray State in 2 weeks rather than vice versa.
I have no doubt that our defense is preparing for Kent as if Archer is 100% and ready to run. I wouldn't want it any other way. I think this game is going to be a battle and our defense is going to have to be prepared for said battle.
The offense will get its points and I think we come out of Kent with another W and a few more votes in the AP/USA Today polls next week. This would be a great road win early in the season. Keep it up Falcons!

I think its pretty amazing that all those stations are picking up this game. It shows that a lot of people had this game circled at the start of the year as an important one. Either that, or there's just nothing on this week.

24,
I think it's great that the MAC is finally getting some attention in these cities...though I understand from another thread that Columbus ISN"T going to carry the game, at least not on that station listed. Got my DVR cranked and ready to go, though I'll be at the game in person...love to watch...and listen to outside commentators as they broadcast our games.

Straight from John Wagner at The Blade....
The big question this week surrounds Dri Archer and his availability for the game. Do you think he will play, and how much do you think his status will affect Kent State's offense?
While there hasn’t been any official word about the status of the Flashes' versatile Dri Archer for Saturday’s game, my gut feeling is he’ll at least try to play –- if not on a limited basis -- Saturday against the Falcons. With the early portion of the Flashes schedule being their toughest, KSU needs the added speed dimension Archer brings. Monday, Haynes said Archer had simply “twisted” his left ankle and that he was already out of the protective boot that donned for the second half of last week’s season-opening victory over Liberty. Archer did not wear the boot or walk with a noticeable limp this week in practice (through Wednesday), but he hasn’t participated in any drills, either.

BEAT KENT!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
