People don't have to take it to the "douchey" level to make noise and actually seem like they care about the game. Why is he out of line for asking for more vocal support? Because some of you have personal issues with him? Ever been to a game at Tulsa, Troy, or Boise? I have, and those were some game atmospheres that make college football fun. Their fans can get into games, why can't ours?
The only problems I have with the silent fans are the ones that complain because I cheer or because I stand up to celebrate a touchdown. Those are the fans that grind my gears, and those are the ones that probably should stay home.
I hear ya loud and clear. That's one of the reasons I moved 20 rows up last year. I got tired of hearing people behind me say "Down in front" or something to that nature. Now I'm 5 rows from the top and nobody says a word. For the love of Doyt Perry, its a FOOTBALL GAME> I love yelling and getting jacked up.
I'm hangin' in your old seating area. There is always does seem to be grumbling when I stand up on every 3rd down, 1st down, whatever. I didn't like it when I was up higher and nearby seats were sold to extremely mouthy Turdledo fans who didn't seem to care there were children sitting right in front of them. Now, I know it's good to teach them young that Toledo fans blow, but I still thought it better to move to safer ground for their sake.

Good move Freak. The top seats at the Doyt are better for game viewing anyway. I've always sat up there.

I'll tell you what, the attendance conversations at BGSU and Cleveland (Indians) seem to be nearly the same. Except winning has started to cure the issue with the Falcons while the Tribe is still only getting 11,000 people for important games against other wild-card contenders. It is very frustrating indeed. I think the Falcons are definitely headed in the right direction and I think that more wins will also bring more enthusiasm to the crowd...hopefully.

Snakeman's exhortations aren't going to move the attendance needle one way or the other. The Doyt is a fairly intimate setting even with thousands of people and nerves are bound to be tested. Everyone seems to adapt and find the niche that best suits their preferred method of experiencing the game.

We can't control cheering preferences. We can control things like the efficiency of entrance/exits, the concession operation and the PA system.

Having a pseudo mascot like snakeman makes the atmosphere fun. Having that pseudo mascot pushing for more fan participation is ideal IMO.

The reason people tend to complain about people standing up at Bowling Green games is the fact that our stadium seating has an unusually gradual slope to it.

It will be interesting to see what this committee studying the future of the stadium comes up with.

Typical conversation with my 9-year old son on the way to any BG sporting event:

Son: "Who are we playing, Dad?"
Bad Father: "We're playing (insert team name)."
Son: "When do we play Toledo?"
Bad Father: "In a few weeks. What do we say about Toledo?"
Son: "They suck."
Bad Father: "You get extra candy today."
