Patton back with Pittsburgh.

Post by RossfordFalcon »

Looking through the Steelers news and saw that Patton was signed along with 21 other free agents. Who knows what will happen come preseason but hopefully not the same thing as last year. I hope he can show them what he's made of and stay with the team through the regular season.

Did he play at any level this year? I think he got cut pretty early last year. Like when they trimmed to 77 players. I hope he has been staying sharp

He played a lot of fourth quarters in the preseason, but that was about it. I'm almost postitive he didnt play anywhere else.

I saw him in the crowd at the GMAC Bowl and went to talk to him. He said he had been working out regularly since getting cut and was hoping to maybe make an NFL Europe team.

He also did not have in his customary golden grill piece.

I never really realized that he even got cut. I guess I just assumed that he was on the practice squad or something.

Does Pittsburgh have first re-signing rights after cutting him, or was there just not much other interest?

No, he was a free agent, and there was no real other interest. Frankly, there's probably 25 free agents running around with his general profile. He was a great player here, and if he gets his shot, I still think he could stick, but its a tough transition.

Would love to see the "General" get another shot!
