Akron Game Start
Anyone have a lead on what time the Akron game will start? Trying to proactively plan for the day

Re: Akron Game Start
Seriously? We have a home game in 2 weeks and we don't know when the start time is? What's the holdup?
The MAC can't seriously be thinking about putting Akron on their Saturday game of the week, can they?

According to these volleyball game notes the start time for the Akron game is 3:30

Would be great if the Akron game started at 7...why the hell we don't have more night games is beyond me.

Here's the reasons why I think 3:30 works.Falconfreak90 wrote:Would be great if the Akron game started at 7...why the hell we don't have more night games is beyond me.

1.It's late enough in the day that students can get their beauty sleep and still tailgate a bit and get their azzes to the game on time.
2.It's late enough in the day for the out of town alumni to get to the game, and still early enough that they can get back without having to make an overnight stay. Noon is likely too early for some and night games are likely too late.
3.It's a more convenient time for the townies than say, noon, which forces you to make decisions about what you can get done on a Saturday. 3:30 allows you to get a lot of your chores and errands done and still make the game.
4.Ohio State usually plays at noon, or if its a big game, at night, so you almost always miss the dreaded scenario where you're playing at the same time as OSU if you start at 3:30.
5.You have your best chance of warm-ish, nice weather playing at 3:30. Noon isn't bad either in this regard. That's one of the issues with playing at night because our fans are such sissies when it comes to playing in any sort of cold conditions.
This all being said, night games are special. They tend to bring out the best in the fans too. Looking at our schedule this year, I would absolutely have had Tulsa, Toledo, and Ohio at night, the rest 3:30 for the reasons I stated earlier. Never noon. Noon sucks, because you're always up against OSU, the students are still half asleep/in bed/inebriated from the previous night, and it screws the out of towners who have to get up at a very early hour.

Yes, but the November night games, during the week, are KILLING MAC football attendance. 2 to 6 thousand show up

Toledo at night is a tricky one...you never know what kind of weather you'll be getting at night temp wise in NW Ohio....I don't care, I sat through all varieties of wind rain sleet and snow, but my wife, daughter and her bff aren't. That cuts the possible attendance in my universe by 75%.
I just assume every year that OU and Miami are getting the November mid week treatment which makes attending them impossible for me. That road trip to Oxford (Hueston woods) and Athens (Hocking Hills) used to be a take Friday off and see the sights weekend. Now I don't even get to see the gameslive...

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
