Wilfrid Laurier University Game

How did the team look to everyone based on the game? What was your favorite part of the game?

The problem with these games is the mismatch of opponent. The guys came out flying which was great. Lots of time in the attacking zone as evidenced by the shots on goal advantage. Towards the end of the game I thought things started to get sloppy, and guys were just playing for the end of the game. It's understandable, but won't fly the rest of the season. I also thought a couple of the guys were looking real tired during the third. Again, first full game but something that needs to be addressed.

I thought our powerplay was not that good. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the team we were playing, but we only had one goal and some good chances. We just have to finish.

I wouldn't undersell the quality of these Canadian college teams too much. Waterloo, who plays in the same division as Laurier (and finished one spot behind W-L last year in their conference) beat Michigan 2-1 Sunday. AT YOST. These teams are capable of playing at a high level, they just usually can't match the speed, experience and talent of NCAA teams.

Michigan's season doesn't start till around February. Every game before then is just an exhibition.

I thought things were sloppy before the end. Sholl got a mild baptism. Ya can't really draw any conclusions from these games.

No, you can't. I watched Michigan soundly beat Boston College tonight in Ann Arbor... Jerry's boys just plain got outplayed by a Michigan team that apparently is as hot and cold as the football team in A2. I really wish we were playing UM, MSU, ND, Miami this year. I think we're finally getting to the point where we can reasonably expect to win on any given night, and it would've been nice to remind some of those programs what BG Hockey is all about....
