I don't mind this idea, good way to increase gate revenue for the hockey program and more people will be actually sitting in the bleachers to make the place look more full.

Because 20 people sitting at tables looks much better than people lined up 6 deep trying to see the ice. If you've never watched a game from down there, I truly wouldn't expect you to understand why we like standing there so much.

what's wrong with sitting behind the glass on the north end? cheap, it's never full up (although now it might start getting that way...), and you don't have to line up behind anybody. best seats in the house, IMHO.

I spoke with Bill at the ticket office this morning. There will be 5 4-seat tables. There will be stanchions behind them at a distance of 8' from the glass.
There will be some limited space for standing at the glass, at the Zamboni doors and other spots. One table has been taken to date. Bill has experience with this concept from his days with the Falcons at Air Force. There's a waiting list for them at AFA. There will be pics on the BG website ASAP.

Well that lasted for the exhibition game. There is NO standing along the glass anywhere, unless you're part of "The Show."

I really feel for you. However, this is how things have to be played nowadays. They need to make every dime possible in order to make/keep the program competitive.

Actually, the worst part of it is we were assured by Mr Bill Applebee himself that there would be some standing room along the glass between the tables and the stands on each side. We were told this during the exhibition game two weeks ago. Walked into the arena Tuesday night and that area was roped off with a sign "Reserved for Media." We were then standing outside the skate shop and the Ice Arena maintenance guy (who we've known since he started working there) asked if we wanted to stand by the Zamboni doors. Along comes the security guy to tell us we have to move because Bill says that's the spot the "Spirit Skaters" get to watch from because they are part of "The Show."

Needless to say, after literally 12 hours of driving Tuesday it was rather difficult to enjoy a great hockey game.

Never put a woman in charge of a sports venue. Before you know it, the ice arena will be pink. also, never permit a woman to announce college football games. It ruins the game! Women should be in the stands, holding their man's beer and looking pretty.

You're right. Some of us that work for a living drive a lot and find it easier to stand for games. Better on our backs than sitting. My day right now involves leaving my house in Wauseon at 6AM, driving to Paulding for work (about an hour), bouncing around in a scraper for 10 hours, then driving home. Gamedays like Tuesday and last night involves an hour drive from work to BG for the game then a 45 minute drive home. Last thing I want to do when I get to the game is climb stairs for more sitting.

There's quite a few of us that like to stand down there because it's simply uncomfortable to sit. But we still buy tickets and attend games.

have you tried standing next to the goal judge on the north end? used to see the occasional kid and photographer in there, but usually it's empty. yeah, it might not be the same atmosphere, but nothing wrong with the view.

Last I knew that was where the ambulance personnel was stationed. They've only sold 2 of the 7 boxes so far. I'm gonna have a chat and see what we can work out.
