WBGU play-by-play needs to not be so excited when the opposing team scores...

Sounds like the coach felt his defense let the team down -- at least that's what he said in his post game presser. You can't expect a freshman goalie to stop everything without help; heck, you can't expect that of any goalie, but especially a freshman.

Oh well...the good thing about young players is they usually get better.

on the osu post game broadcast, their asst coach gave BG some nice complements:
they (BG) are fast, they are gritty and they never quit, they just keep working hard and we need some of that determination on this (osu) team.

I thought that was quite nice.

Sorry about that. I'll let him know he's not homer enough for you. Would you prefer he sing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba or Forward Falcons after we score?

Personally, I believe AZZ would be best, but either would be fine.

Just my two cents, but many hockey announcers, no matter what level, get excited for goals scored by both teams. We also need to keep in mind that Kevin one day wants to have a career in this profession, and many potential employers probably won't like to hear him be a "homer" and not care about the other team scoring. I think he goes a great job and more importantly he's a good kid with a passion for BG hockey.

Back the game....Did anyone that was there see Walkers hit? Was it a legit DQ, or should it have just been a 5 min and a game? Did the Ohio School of Acting come into play too, or was he seriously injured?

From what I could tell it was a clean hit. The coaches are going to review the video and submit an appeal for the DQ if they feel that it was a bad call.

Sarcasm isn't necessary. I was in BGRSO when I was a student. I broadcasted basketball, football, and baseball. I've broadcasted for years and I was a PA announcer in high school and I do that now for the high school where I teach.
Obviously, radio is different than the PA announcer who should be a "homer." Radio should be more unbiased and they're doing a good job of that: give credit where credit is due for both teams, comment on things that were bad, criticize when necessary, etc.
The problem I have as a listener is using nearly the same inflection and excitement for both teams scoring goals. Obviously, if the announcer has no ties to either school, then that is fine; however, this is a BG broadcast. All I said was they needed to not sound so excited - doesn't mean not excited at all.

Overall, they're broadcasts are great and I enjoy listening. They do a good job. There is nothing with a little criticism to help someone improve their craft. I welcomed that when I was in radio.

We've obviously never met then. Sarcasm is my oxygen.

I understand if your intent was constructive criticism. But don't you think that's a lot more effective when you direct it to the individual instead of anonymously on a message board that the subject isn't even a member of?

Coach B. didn't think there was any recourse for appeals.

I saw the hit as I was right on the glass next to where it happened. Walker clearly lined the kid up, but he didn't go for the head. Sean's a little guy... it was just laws of physics working against him, and it did look bad. I thought it was going to be interference. At most it should have been a game misconduct and not a DQ.
