Found some information on CB Chris Wright, who was also Middletown's quarterback. Looks like he's a big-play guy. From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Speedy Middletown senior quarterback Chris Wright is a candidate for most dangerous offensive player in the Greater Miami Conference.

He came into the game first in the conference in passing and ninth in rushing. Many of his accomplishments come via big plays - of the seven touchdowns he had run or thrown for in the previous two weeks, four covered 40 yards or more.

Hopefully he can turn some INTs to TDs.

I don't think this is our strongest class. Not knocking; this stuff isn't science. Just an impression.

Maybe folks who go to the event will turn up nice tidbits. But here are the things I look for:

1. Nice variety in geography.
2. "All state" and Mr. Football awards.
3. Size / 4.4 times
4. The schools folks turned down to come with us.

Based on that, I'm under the *impression* we've done better in past years.

I don't see a Heisman contender in this list.

But, obviously, everything is conjecture.

Looks to me like there are plenty of "All State" guys on this list, and more than a couple "Blue Chip" status players. Maybe it isn't quite as strong as the past 2 years and maybe it is. Time will tell.

Still, seems like an impressive list of talent.

I don't see a single surprise on that list, but I haven't looked closely.

Except...

They have Rhett Magner as from "Palmer, Ala."

(I suppose a high school football career in Alabama would be more impressive).

Cole's freshmen year the program had him listed as being from Palmer, AL. I remember saying, hey, who's that #13? Opening the program, and saying, hey, some kid named Cole from Alabama.

That's my impression, too. A few of these guys aren't even listed as being all-conference or MVP of their team. Could very well be a solid class, just doesn't seem to be a great one.

A lot of these guys are going to be linemen, both offensive and defensive. Those aren't WOW positions. The OLineman all looked like big strong kids with good feet. Of the Dlinemen, Ream, Frericks and james looked particularly impressive. James is about 260lbs right now. Give him a yer in the weight room and he'll be a beast at DT. Frericks has a great motor. He had an early offer from Illinois, but they backed off when Zook took over.
I think Ream will stay at DE and be a factor, he's very athletic for a kid his size

I think Ruiz and Alexander will help right away. Alexander can really motor. The WR from FL, Woods, is very athletic and is a heck of a downfield blocker. He has some good size and he also has above average speed from the looks of things.

Smith, Barnes, Thomas and Wright are all very good looking athletes. I think Smith will see some time next year. Magner's a Magner...what else can you say?
The RB Bullock is a bigger version of Pope

Th LB's looked good. Basler and Lawrence look like solid MLB's. Thompson reminds me a lot of Burkes.

I'm happy with this class. We've really gotten some help on the interior Dline and the Olinemen are going to continue our tradiiton of great line play. According to Brandon, 15 of them verballed to us before the start of the season.

you cant really rate this years class from our point of view because for most of us we havent seen any of these guys play and it doesnt show what kind of strength they got or their 40 times so as far as im concerned we dont know anything till they start practicing with the team and we get some updates on how the young pups are doin and i like to seee some guys gettting school done early and ppracticing with the team in the spring...its too bad more guys couldnt pull that off but... as long as they are ready to go when the time comes tahts all taht matters

I am no expert but I like the guys we got. It seems like they are making an effort to make us a great defensive team too. There is no absolute standout in this class but I can think of pleanty of guys on our present team who were not either. 3-4 sentences doesn't give us much idea of who these players are and how they will fit into our team. It seems like GB is happy with who they got.

Actually, all of us that were at the "show" saw quite a bit of film on all of the recruits, and I came away quite impressed. I really like this class as it covered some needs, like OL, bigger LB's and DL. The size overall is excellent, as you have to remember they are almost all, still in HS, and they are almost as big as many of our starters now.
Coach Brandon also mentioned that we also will be using tight ends more in the coming year, so it makes alot of sense, plus the "convert" factor as they are the "big" guys that can also run. Makes for some outstanding prospects at many other positions.

Is this really a good thing? Don't get me wrong, I am glad these guys want to come to Bowling Green. But, when you lock up so many of your scholarships so early, I think that constrains what you can do. First, any of these guys could get hurt or have been a fluke and just not pan out. It is a slippery slope to walk in offering so early.

Second, you limit how many more kids you can look at. I think everyone knows the story of Big Ben, didn't play QB until a senior in high school. I think you eliminate any kids that develop in their senior season because...

Third, when the recruiting season finally gets here, you now played another season on the field and recognize you have specific needs to address. In our case, we decided that we need to use the TE more, lost Crossley to the NFL draft, Perry to grades potentially, injuries to others maybe. So now you might have to take those ten remaining scholarships to address needs rather then just going after great players.

Fourth, we just completed another exciting and successful season on the field proving that we look like we have more than just an "Urban Meyer effect". We aren't going to be just a blip with a few good years and then back to mediocrity. I think this was the season to prove that and we did great. But having so many early commitments, we weren't able to woo any kids using this philosophy.

Just my two cents worth.
