Injury updates?

Post by BGSU33 »

Any update on any injuries? Most concerning was the obvious one, if Jude is okay or not. That play still ticks me off! I also read that Cohen is out for the year. I knew we lost him for several weeks but thought he was expected back for the maybe the finale or if we make the MACC or a bowl.

Looks like we're going to be without Jude Adjei-Barimah and Justin Ford for EMU. While I think we'll be okay without them for EMU, hopefully we'll get both back next week for UB. We already lost star LB Gabe Martin for the year and Ford is his backup, and Adjei-Barimah can also play Rover if needed and is a key nickel back for us right now. His injury was because of the cheap shot by Tettleton...@sshole! Heath Jackson is also battling a hamstring.

Per Falcon Fodder:

Junior safety Jude Adjei-Barimah suffered a knee injury in the loss to Ohio; he hopes to practice today, but he is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s game. And junior rover Justin Ford has displayed concussive symptoms and has not be cleared for practice. On offense Heath Jackson is looking to return from a hamstring problem and is listed as probable for Eastern Michigan.

Jude is out for Saturday along with Ford. Senn will be playing rover and Pettus will likely see some PT at CB. Heath Jackson has a bit of a hammy problem but he should go. Nothing else besides those already hurt/out for the season.

Every team has injuries by this time of year...but these may be critical as they're hitting us in our most vulnerable spot.... Jude has been solid, Ford has been a very pleasant surprise, and I really hope that Heath Jackson will be OK...that kid has had to deal with MORE injuries than anyone I can recall in recent years. And just as he's been blossoming, now a hammy problem? :-k

Yep..your body isn't used to playing at game speed and you suddenly get called upon to take a huge number of snaps...not suprised he's tweaked a muscle.

The Ford concussion is worrisome...you can see a return to baseline right away or it can take weeks..the brizain is such a mystery
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I agree with Jackson. He has been solid in his play over the last few weeks and I would much rather see the ball thrown to him when needed as opposed to Burbrink!!

Looks like Jackson and Adjei-Barimah will play but Ford and Coppet are out:

INJURIES: Wide receiver Heath Jackson and defensive back Jude Adjei-Barimah have both practiced this week and are expected to play against Buffalo. Neither played in last Saturday's win over Eastern Michigan.
Running back Fred Coppet and rover Justin Ford, both are sidelined with concussive symptoms.

Coppet got blown up by an EMU defender on a play action early on, looked bad. He left the game wearing a neck brace so I suspect he won't be available unless BG gets a bowl bid. I haven't heard anything on Ford playing next week if BG makes it to Detroit but I suspect he would also be okay for a bowl game.

Well, we're down to our third option at Rover again as Ford is out for the MACC. Also, Coppet is doubtful. Both are concussion injuries. Ford has still not been cleared. The one bit of good news, we actually, great news, is Greene seems okay. We all saw him go down against Buffalo and that was a major scare. He returned but he did suffer a knee injury in that game. Extremely glad he seems good to go.

Per John Wagner: The Falcons remain relatively injury-free heading into Friday's game against NIU. BG will not have junior rover Justin Ford, who has not been cleared for practice because he has experienced concussive symptoms. Ford has not been in uniform for BG’s last two games. ... Freshman running back Fred Coppet also is doubtful for Friday’s contest; he too is suffering from concussive symptoms. Coppet was not in uniform last Friday at Buffalo. ... Travis Greene, who was injured late in the win over the Bulls, is expected to play. Greene left the game with knee discomfort but returned to the field; he has practiced with the Falcons all week without incident.

Of course, saying the Falcons are relatively "injury-free" is relative. Junior rover Gabe Martin, an All-MAC second team pick, is out for the season, as is sophomore wide receiver Chris Gallon, junior wide receiver Jared Cohen, and sophomore cornerbacks Darrell Hunter and Diontre Delk.

I have been wondering that as well. Seems like fell off the 2 deep after the MSU game. He's a better back than Hop good at least I think so.

Hopgood is mostly just a 3rd down back for blocking, which he is well suited for.

Running the ball is only part of the deal. Blocking, receiving and holding on to the ball might be Givens problems.

Givens was moved down as Coppet got more familiar with the offense, however with Fred's injury he's been moved up the depth chart. I don't expect him to get much playing time tomorrow though.
