Clarke is just a guy running around out there without even a glimmer of a clue about how one actually conducts himself on a basketball court with other men attempting to actually play basketball.

I like Tisdale...I just saw him drive to the hoop and dish to a big when the defense reacted to him. That is...literally..one more time than I saw any of our guards do that over the past three years.

The second thing is wrong. He is not a Brandon Pardon pass first/only point guard but he can drive and dish.Flipper wrote:I like Tisdale...I just saw him drive to the hoop and dish to a big when the defense reacted to him. I however would not be surprised if Tisdale ends up starting at PG by the end of the year and Clarke at the two.

It's not a question of pass or shoot...it's a question of being under control and leading your team. Clarke has always struck me as a guy playing without control...which I guess is a function of coaching as much as anything else.
I do like the fact that we have a guy who could legitimately be nicknamed "Delish"

I just don't see it. Could he be crisper? sure but I wouldnt watch him play and have my first thought be out of control. i do think I am overstating his PG ability. I want to rescind that. I think he can play pg but would be better at the 2. He isn't this volume shooter who has no PG skills though. He can play PG.Flipper wrote:It's not a question of pass or shoot...it's a question of being under control and leading your team. He can...but he won't.
Maybe i'm old fashioned...but a team still putting up threes on you when they're kicking your ass by 20 is pretty much asking you to foul them hard

Too be honest you may be right and he just shot better tonight. I hope that the team comes along and he is better.Flipper wrote:He can...but he won't.

I really shouldn't criticize the players...it's not so much their fault as their coach. Orr played at a high level collegiately and in the NBA. He knows what it takes to play the game correctly...but his teams have always seemed to lack focus on offense. They work hard on defense and I'm not going to fault them there, but we have no real offense beyond having the wing and the guards play catch in the perimeter before someone decides it's time to shoot.

Okay, it's pretty clear that the talent evaluation skills on this board just fkg godamn suck.
Clarke and Henderson are both extremely athletic, talented guards. Yes, Clarke must play more under control. Yes, both most start making more shots. When these problems get corrected...when this happens, they will be the best guard combo in the MAC.
Anyone that thinks, at this point, that we have below average guards should go drink bleach and get it over with.

Agree. And I want to re-iterate that I over stated my thoughts on Clarke at the point. I disagreed that he was out of control and just a volume scorer, but I think I went to the polar opposite of that to disagree and I don't think that's the case. I think he is more scorer than passer but isn't the black hole that some guys were in our recent history.Flipper wrote:I really shouldn't criticize the players...it's not so much their fault as their coach. I completely agree with you on the offense.

I don't mind Henderson and atleast he is athletic and tries hard. But he just isn't that good. Tisdale and Denney both will probably surpass him as we move forward because IMO, they will both do what he does better. I think Henderson's role as a spark off the bench Moten style will be better. He isn't a useless guy by any means.BleedOrange wrote:Okay, it's pretty clear that the talent evaluation skills on this board just fkg godamn suck.

Cam Black led all scorers in the first half with 10 points on 5-7 shooting against a 7-foot center that scored 43 points last game. Cam then saw 10 minutes in the second half. Makes sense.

They started to collapse more in the middle and it was very difficult to get him the ball. I do agree though. Could have facilitated the offense through him a bit. He has nice post moves and a very nice touch around the basket. I want him shooting way more.BGSUFanatic7 wrote:Cam Black led all scorers in the first half with 10 points on 5-7 shooting against a 7-foot center that scored 43 points last game.
