I feel sorry for the alumni and fans at Savannah State Univeristy, in GA.
Their team is currently 0-25, and has 3, yes only 3 games remaining on their schedule. With 3 more losses they will become the first winless team and I dont know how long, if ever.
ESPN.com's "Bottom 10" poll of the 2004-2005 basketball season has Savannah State as the "#1 worst team."
In and of itself, that's unexceptional. They're also winless. That's pretty bad but nothing too out-of-the-ordinary.
These guys are on some kinda losing mission!
A couple more things...
They've played one ranked team, Memphis, and lost by 62 points. Memphis isn't even ranked anymore.
Norfolk State beat 'em by 31. Norfolk State is bad too, by the way.
Their university's website has been under construction for over a year.
Coming into this season, their last 3 years combined record was 8-73, including this years records, the last 4 years they are 8-98. WOW.
They lose by an average of 23 points per game. And listen to this:
They have only led the entire season for 4:27 seconds. Thats 4 minutes and 27 seconds in all of their games. I really feel sorry for a program like this.

They are players at the University of Iowa. I just read an article and the theme was basically people to feel sorry for in a crappy situation. Funny how your post made me think of it....
Iowa's best player, Pierre Pierce (reminds me of AD 6-4 pg who scores), got kicked off the team after another run in with the law. THis was after sitting out last season for alleged rape charges (of an Iowa women's player) that he pleaded down to assault. He was let back on the team by Ath. Director Bob BOwlsby and born again Christian (with a shady background) Steve Alford and they have some pretty big egg on their faces. Iowa, despite being a BCS, big time Big Ten place is a pretty down to earth , family environment so this comes as a major slapi n the face to the community and program.
I don't know just thought I'd share that. . . being as I used to live in Iowa and went to college out there.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I heard about the problems at Iowa. I am glad the kicked him off. Not sure why they let him back on the team, but yeah I do, its Iowa. Big 10. Any smaller conference he would been not allowed back on the team. Can you say NIT to Iowa. This may open the door for a second MAC team. You never know. In football we got some help getting us more bowl games. Maybe things will start to open up where we get more teams dancing because the bigger programs start have more and more internal problems.
