GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
Hey guys, it looks like ya'll might be heading to Mobile. We'd love to have you guys. I really enjoyed visiting with your fans last time.
There's a lot of discussion about which Sun Belt team will get invited: Arkansas State, Western Kentucky, Troy or South Alabama. Downtown hotel rooms will fill up quick so I wanted to give you some lodging ideas before they fill up. And staying downtown is the way to go with the Mardi Gras parade and the riverside pep-rallies/fireworks.
Downtown hotels - all in safe locations and right in the heart of downtown
Marriott Riverview Plaza - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/m ... aza-hotel/- another great hotel on parade route.
Marriott Battle House - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/m ... nce-hotel/- great hotel on parade route
Hampton Inn - http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels ... index.html
- new hotel on parade route (ask for a balcony)
Candlewood Suites - http://www.ihg.com/candlewood/hotels/us ... oteldetail
Holiday Inn - http://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us ... oteldetail
Fort Conde Inn - http://www.mobilebedandbreakfast.com/
- nice bed and breakfast downtown
Malaga Inn - http://malagainn.com/
- nice smaller hotel / kind of like a bed and breakfast.
Admiral Semmes - http://www.admiralsemmeshotel.com/
- older hotel, not as nice as others but right downtown
Quality Inn - http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-mobile-alabama-AL045
- older hotel, lowest quality but right downtown. It's a great party hotel as all rooms open to shared balconies and big parking lot.
Battleship Inn - http://www.battleshipinnresortmobileal.com/
- older hotel right next to the USS Alabama. It's a very short drive to downtown

Marriott Mobile - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/m ... -marriott/
- very nice hotel about 5 minute drive from downtown. MAC team hotel
other nice hotels close to downtown (10 minute drive) on the other side of Mobile Bay in Daphne, AL:
Courtyard Marriott - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/m ... ern-shore/
Fairfield Inn - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/m ... ern-shore/
Homewood Suites - http://homewoodsuites3.hilton.com/en/ho ... index.html
Hampton Inn - http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels ... index.html
Microtel Inn - http://www.microtelinn.com/hotels/alaba ... l-overview
The GoDaddy site also lists some hotels if these are booked.
Also, if you want to make a vacation out of it, you could stay at the beach (Gulf Shores / Orange Beach) It's about an hour drive from the beach to downtown.
Best of luck against NIU and if you guys get the invite I'll provide my email and answer all of your travel questions!

Thanks for the info, MobileBama.
Guys: MobileBama knows his stuff. If he thinks we might be heading to Mobile, there is a pretty good chance that's what will happen.
And, for those of you who haven't made this trip: It's a good time.

Arkansas State just accepted the Sun Belt bid for Mobile.

January 5 just doesn't work as well as the other dates for us. School starts up again on Monday, work, etc.
Mandel still has us in San Diego on Dec. 26. That's much better for us, and I told the Princess that we'll probably go if that's the one we get.

If we go to Mobile I'll be there.

MobileBama ... I was glad to meet you last time! Thanks for all the info. If we are heading your way, I'd love it if we all headed to that bar again that was our official day before the game bar.

Good to hear from you, Tommy. You were an excellent host last time, and a great ambassador for Mobile and the State of Alabama. And......you are an honorary B.G. Falcon. Roll along!!!
We're on a mission. A mission from GAHD!
Re: GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
The matchup against Ark State is not attractive. Other Bowl projections for other MAC teams against the likes of Boise, Pittsburg etc. would do much more for us in terms of PR.

Re: GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
Thanks guys! If ya'll come back we'll definitely have to hit the town and do some tailgating. It was a blast last time!
Just a heads up, Arkansas State has booked most of the rooms downtown and they should all be booked by the weekend. The Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites, Quality Inn, a nice B&B Fort Conde Inn and the Malaga Inn have availability. Also you could try the others to see if WKU fans canceled reservations. In case you get the invite you might want to book these quickly.
I also forgot to mention The Battleship Hotel which is ok but just a minute or two drive downtown (it's walking distance but can't walk thru the tunnel) http://www.battleshipinnresortmobileal.com/
The MAC team hotel is the Marriott on Airport Blvd which looks to have plenty of rooms.
Good luck against NIU!

Marriott is where the team and a lot of BG folks stayed last time we were in Mobile. Worked out fine.

Re: GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
Or the Pizza Bowl will smarten up and invite the Falcons, lets be in Detroit so most of us can actually go
Re: GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
The bowl "experience" in Detroit, does not come close to that of Mobile. Other than being closer to BG, it loses in every category.

Re: GoDaddy Bowl info (hotels)
We may be bankrupt, and admittedly I have not been to Mobile, but I have to believe that Detroit would provide a suitable bowl experience for you. There won't be a parade, but we offer world class attractions, including fine dining, gambling and the arts, unless they are liquidated to pay our creditors. Detroit is fun. You can come stay at a casino, take some of our $ and get a "big man" steak dinner from Wolfgang Puck. Party like a rockstar in Greektown before kickoff and then walk over to Ford Field for the game. You can't beat it, Jack!factman wrote:The bowl "experience" in Detroit, does not come close to that of Mobile. Other than being closer to BG, it loses in every category.
