Your best bet is a surface lot in Greektown, always park there for Wings/Tigers games, $5 for the day, never have had any issues and very quick to get out of downtown.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

The dirt lots on Woodward accross the freeway and on the opposite side of the street from the condos is a good spot too if you aren't hitting Greektown at all.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

In the past I always parked for free in the MGM garage and took a cab over...but it hass since moved so I might have to alter that to another casino. Cab rides are usually about $5 each way, but they drop you off right at the entrance to FF!

MGM only moved 5 blocks and it's closer to FF. You are better off parking less than 5 blocks away to Greektown Casino. You can Valet for $5.00 and after BG wins you can play some blackjack and show your ticket stub and I believe get a $2 beer.

DO NOT listen any of these people saying Greektown. Greektown Casino costs $40 to park unless you have a frequent players card, absolutely stay away from there. Park in the dirt lots between Fox Theatre and MGM, will be cheap for the game or even use the Fox Parking Garage. For dinner there is Hockeytown, or many of the great options in Greektown which is a block away from Ford Field so you can just walk over there
But again stay away from Greektown at all costs

Hockeytown's great for drinks..the food kinda sucks though. If you want some thing better than bar food try Angelina Bistro or the Foxtown Grille...there's also the Elwood over by the Stadium...but that's more like bar food.

And even for just drinks I think the Elwood is pretty pricey...never eaten there.Flipper wrote:Hockeytown's great for drinks..the food kinda sucks though. If you're going to be eating in the metro Detroit area before or after the game Slow's BBQ is the obvious choice. Quite simply the best BBQ restaurant I've found outside of one of the BBQ hotspots.
It's not walking distance to the game, and it's going to be a 2+ hour wait to get a table, but well worth it...

I use the Greektown surface lot right across from Fishbones.
