MAC Championship Watch Parties?

Post by CBD2032 »

Hey all. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the MAC Championship game. I was wondering if anyone knew of any BG watch parties in the DC area? Quite a few of us out here looking for something but the closest we could find was a NIU watch party at some Ventnor Sports Café, so we may end up hitting that up. Didn't know if anyone had any ideas?

Maybe this is something we need to work on, longer term.

This would be a great idea, especially in areas like DC, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincy, Chicago.. heck even Toledo and BG for away games.

It would be great to get in contact with a bar/restrurant in each area and get an agreement to put the BG game on the largest screen. I'm sure they would be up for it if there were a decent turnaround.

I've tried to organize these before and no one cares unless its a big game like the MACC is. I always watch games at the BW3 in Oregon, one of the managers there used to be an equipment manager for BG and always gets us the game on a big screen with sound. Outside of the diehards, there just isn't much interest from the casual fan who is only going to pay attention if BG has a chance to win a championship or a bowl game.

Good point, sad but true.

I'm hosting a Christmas party at the same time as the game here in Chicago where I will be the only BG grad but I am definitely having this game on my TV during the party (although any other Chicago alum are welcome to come on by if you don't mind a bunch of 25-30 year olds drinking and playing cards against humanity with Christmas music blasting in the background). As mentioned before, planning ahead is the key to these watch parties. I actually went to one here in Chicago a few weeks back when we played Miami and there were probably 20 or so people who showed up but it had been planned for probably two months.
BG '10

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

There you go, plan ahead, communicate, and you never know who might show up. That is encouraging to hear.

Check out the BGSU alumni association facebook page...there is some info on there about various watch parties.

Pretty sure I'm the only one on this site that lives anywhere near Knoxville, but in case I'm wrong I'll happily invite anyone that might be in the area to come into the Turkey Creek Buffalo Wild Wings. I'm managing tomorrow night and I'll definitely have the MACC on.

Any other time I'm working and BG is playing on a network we get down here, I always try to at least have it on a few screens so I can keep an eye on it, but if there were someone else inside requesting it, I'd have an excuse to feature it a little more prominently.
