Huntsville....Don't Be The First

Post by pdt1081 »

Anybody else worried about this series. It should be a stats padder for the guys. But with the way things have been going lately, I can't say Huntsville ending their 21 game winless streak would surprise me. Realisticly, both games should be over in the first period each night. BG should be able to roll all 4 lines, and have each line produce. Huntsville has had quite a few blowouts this season. But they've also had quite a few one goal games, mostly on Saturdays. Over-confidence, the recent inability to hold leads, it's going to be more of a mental battle for the guys than anything else.

I have a bad feeling just because of the way things have been going lately. It SHOULD be two easy wins, but as we proved many years ago: Any team can beat anyone, on any given night. Hopefully those nights for them is not this weekend.

Wearing the orange jerseys at home is bad mojo. More precisely, wearing a dark jersey when the other team also wears dark yields bad mojo. I think we've done that twice, and the results were a tie and a loss. (Maybe. Who needs facts when the topic is mojo?) We've got the white and the cream light jerseys and the brown and the orange dark jerseys. (Why do we have two of each? Embrace the brown. Embrace the Tootsie Roll.) One team wears light and the other wears dark, no messing around.

If there's 1500 here tonight, I'll be surprised. Looks a little sparse.

End of the 1st. Murphy with a powerplay goal. BG leads 1-0.

Shots are 10-8, BG.

Mingo is playing as a defenseman tonight.

Mercier scores another powerplay goal to end the 2nd 2-0.

Shots are 29-14, BG. This should not be a 2 goal game.

I'm sure a lot of folks were either in Detroit or home watching the MAC title game -- and were rewarded with seeing, arguably, the best football game by a BG team in well over a decade.

It's too bad some of these sporting events clash, but it won't happen often.

most ridiculous moment of last night's game: the "media time-out" with 11 secs. left in the first. what's the point of that? here's an idea...just wait another 11 secs. for the long time-out...

liked seeing Mingo playing D last night--both that he's cool with it, and that the coaches have that creative thinking going on.

Well...that sucked.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Alabama wanted it more than we did, and it showed on the ice.

If that wasn't the wake up call this team needed, it's going to be a very long second half of the season.

Lost to Ala-fricken-bama.....how the hell.....tonight, this team IS the laughing stock of NCAA Hockey.

This should settle the goaltending issue. Burke should start all games here on out. Some Seniors need to be held accountable as well. Freshman are playing better than most of the them. It's cold, but the Seniors are not the future for this team and it may be time to sit a few of them.
