1. Hiring a new football coach now
2. Hiring a new basketball coach in a couple months
If Kingston didn't hit the ground running when he first got here, he's about to.....talk about two HUGE upcoming hires to make. One program needs to continue along in what it has become, the other one needs to be brought completely back to life from the dead.

3. Raising money so that we can afford to have consistently successful programs.
Re: Chris Kingston about to be tested big time!
Just want to see this program keep tracking the way it has been going. Hopefully the team doesn't nosedive in the bowl. Also hope we pick right up next year where we left off and make another run at it!

Here's a guy with a great track record as both a football AND hoops coach....

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Anyone know the last time, if ever, we've had to make two of the biggest coaching hires so close together? And let's not kid ourselves thinking the hoops one isn't coming. I would hope that is and has been something Kingston has been working on the last few months in terms of at least targeting candidates. I actually thought that was something interesting that Greg Christopher shared with us about Clawson. He said he was watching a game with Clawson years ago and was so impressed with him that he filed him away back then well before we even opened up a search to replace Brandon. I found that interesting when that was shared when we hired him. Now the hiring of Orr on the other hand....

If there's anyone I trust for this process, its Kingston. He's always prepared for anything and I'm sure will be very thoroughly in interviewing candidates.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Chris Kingston about to be tested big time!
The standard line is always "go slow and get the right guy" while searches drag on for weeks, players are left in the dark and recruiting, which is the future of the program, gets compromised.
How about using 24 hours in a day, putting other duties aside for the time being to do it right AND fast?

He's got a jump on many other programs. I'd love it if come next Monday we have a coach.

I would expect any competent college AD to routinely update a list of coaching prospects for at least his major programs, especially at a MAC school where success almost automatically means your coach gets hired away to a bigger school.Flipper wrote:From the Sent-trib...

Glad to see this, though, and hopefully it will help make the process go much smoother.
