I tend to agree.MarkL wrote:EMU is interviewing Dino Babers. To me, if a guy accepts an opportunity to interview with EMU, that's probably not somebody we want. We can do better.

Yeah, I'd imagine Clawson will be taking most of his staff with him to Wake. Can't blame him. This makes BG getting someone named and having a staff in place quickly very important to not lose recruits and limit transfers.AZZZZ wrote:MJ just tweeted something about "cleaning house" with an angry face. Hope we aren't going to get more bad news about other coaches this afternoon.
Perhaps he is just cleaning his pad and doesn't like doing it.

Clawson gave a lot of praise to Hourigan for our strength/endurance down the stretch. Damn.BGSUFanatic7 wrote:According to Brian Sutton on Twitter, strength coach Hourigan is gone. Clawson talked very highly about him always. Jude A-B also said "Wake Forest ain't ready for Brandon Hourigan," on Twitter.

I like Durkin. I don't want the emphasis on defense lost with a new hire. Like most others I have no interest in Fickell. Ohio State should go 6-6 playing their second string.
Re: Official Coaching Search Rumor Page
While, I would like a few guys from the current staff (Monroe and Sheier) I don't mind the other guys leaving. A new coach is going to want his own guys. Strength coach included.
Re: Official Coaching Search Rumor Page
Amazes me how the decision of 1 person (Clawson) can change the lives of so many. Assistant coaches moving, players transferring, recruits changing schools.
Where we are as a program, I just hope everyone takes a step back and realizes we still have a great thing going at BG. No reason to panic or jump ship.

So does Mack Brown stepping down effect BG at all? There are going to be some dominoes falling now.

Fickell was responsible for starting Joe Bauserman at QB over Braxton Miller. Do you really want a coach that can't tell the difference in talent between those two, and makes that type of decision (1) recruiting talent for your program and (2) making decisions on who gets to play?transfer2BGSU wrote:In Fickell's defense - he didn't have his own people working on the sidelines with him. He had Tressell's people in there.
O$U put him in a bad spot from the beginning.
No thanks.

I've already written an e-mail to AD Kingston asking him to please consider the real motivations behind any recommendation that might come on behalf of Coach Fickell by Coach Meyer if, in fact, the rumors are true. I've wished him well in the search and told him I believe that BG can do better than Fickell; especially when you look closely at Fickell's job performance these past three years.
It's unlikely my e-mail alone will have any impact on Mr. Kingston or the search, but there's no harm in letting your feelings be known; especially if you've been a Falcon Club member and a long-time supporter of the BG programs and the university.

Agree 100%...I wouldn't trust a word out of Urban's mouth or his motives.BGWriter wrote:I've already written an e-mail to AD Kingston asking him to please consider the real motivations behind any recommendation that might come on behalf of Coach Fickell by Coach Meyer if, in fact, the rumors are true. Also agree 100%. In future emails tell him to stop by here and see a bit of the pulse of the fanbase. It's certainly not a complete look but it is a nice snapshot.BGWriter wrote:I've already written an e-mail to AD Kingston asking him to please consider the real motivations behind any recommendation that might come on behalf of Coach Fickell by Coach Meyer if, in fact, the rumors are true. Does Chris Kingston have any kind of a relationship with Urban Meyer? If not I think it would be weird for Meyer to be pimping his DC to guys he doesn't even know

Re: Official Coaching Search Rumor Page
If Clawson is taking the majority of his staff, I would prefer to have an actual head coach, not a coordinator. This way, he already has his staff, and maybe has a choice between the staff he brings and whoever Clawson doesn't take or anyone we can woo back to BG from Clawson. If bigger schools use us as tryouts for head coaches, we should look down at the FCS similarly. Don't hate the player, hate the game sort of thing.
I would've prefered Elco, but if he's gone, I would say our head coach should be Rob Ambrose, head coach at Towson. I saw someone say Jim Tressel on here, and let me clear, I am NOT an OSU fan, but this would be a slam dunk. Not only for on the field, but for publicity. If we go coordinator route and can't get Elco, Durkin would be awesome, Narduzzi would be even better, but I think that's unrealistic.
The only one I am completely against is Fickle. Or a regressed coach. Or a guy that has no head coaching or coordinating exp. No WR, RB, OL coaches.
