Nice guy.
He did zero bowl prep because he was schmoozing with SDSU....what would you say about a guy who screws over his current employer to find a new gig for himself, nominate him for pope?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Coaching salaries at the major powers have gone up a lot since Clawson came to BG, so replacing him with someone from one of those schools will mean a big raise in salary for whoever they hire as a replacement.

I would hate to see BG "cheap out" because of this, especially given how much talent is in the bullpen waiting for the right coach to come aboard. With the right hire, there's no reason BG can't repeat at champions.
I don't think so, the chance of future rewards are enough for some of these guys to take a pay cut. I believe Malzaun did that when he went from Auburn OC to coach Arkansas St.
That's how I see things, if some of these guys want to be head coaches, especially at big time FBS schools they are going to have to take a pay cut for their first head coaching job. The big schools are going to hired an established winning head coach from another school, they rarely go the assistant route that the non power conference schools go. Now Malzahn was such a known name in the south that he likely didn't have to leave Auburn as OC to take the Arkansas State job to eventually get the Auburn HC job, but he credits that year at Arkansas State, learning what it takes to be a head coach, and credits it for helping get the Auburn job
BG went from the outhouse to the penthouse in five seasons. Many people will want this job not only because the roster is deep and built to win, but also knowing the MAC is competitive and has a good reputation of producing excellent coaches. We might see some interesting names pop up in the next few weeks.

Flip,
Not sure exactly WHO you're referring to...I'm guessing Denny Stoltz, because that IS what he did...Urban left under different circumstances which left us P.O.'d, but now bowl game.
I honestly think that Dave handled this as well as he could...never did say he was talking with other folks...in fact refused to discuss the issues when questioned about it at the presser. I thought before and still do that he's one of the classiest coaches I've ever had the chance to meet and talk with.
