Is it just me, or do we seem to get worse officiating breaks at home?

I did not see the game and I am not blaming officiating for the loss, but how come it seems like every home game we have 4 guys with 4 fouls and the other team never does?

One thing I can say for sure after seeing the last second bucket last night over and over again with my DVR was that it sure looked like Joyce carried the ball before the layup. It looked like he stopped because he thought he had to shoot, but then he continued dribbling on because our matador defense parted the red sea for him.

Anyone else notice this?

This happens at home and on the road because our team has no quickness whatsoever. We play defense with our hands instead of our feet.

Well, you could probably call a carry on every play.

As for the fouls, we foul too much. Our guys commit a lot of fouls, and we're not being physical. That's just how we play.

I realize about carries on a lot of plays, but this one was more than obvious from the TV angle I watched...unless someone hit the ball out of his hands if look totally blatant.

Here's the killer for me, we are only 3-2 at home in the MAC! That is not getting the job done at home. We're actually 3-2 on the road as well, which is good, but I must say, beating CMU, EMU and Marshall on the road is the same thing everyone else is doing. At this point, I think we've gone from striving for a first round bye to fighting like heck to get a first round home game in the MAC Tournament. Every games counts, and we've let the last two games against Ohio and Akron slip right out of our hands.

Suprisingly, last night, for the majority of the game the refs were actually good to us. OVerall, they were poor and inconsistant both ways.

We are slow defensively and try to make up for it sometimes by over committing and thus fouling more often.

Unless it is blatant and nasty in the final minute of play you aren't going to get a ticky tacky call like this and I kind of like that. Remember the Mich Fab 5 vs. UNC Nat. Champ. game, before Webber calls the phantom TO he has a defensive rebound then takes a few steps before dribbling. . .

This is something I was going to say as well. Overall the officials were VERY generous to us last night. There were a number of times where I thought we got the benefit of some very questionable calls.

The time where Floyd was jumping up and got totally stuffed, comes to mind. It looked pretty clean to me, but they called a fould. On top of that they said he was shooting, and it looked like he was going to be passing for sure. There were a few times where I thought we should've been called on some reaches and stuff as well, but we got away with it.

The officials stunk last night, as usual, but they were certainly not biased against us. We just foul...A LOT.

Last night i got to the game late. I was standing next to one of my friends, who when the ref was standing infront of us said hey can we get a 3 sec. call??!! The ref then said back "it'll be on white." Now i don't know what that means, we don't really post anyone up that much, so i have no idea what he was talking about. I guess the refs were pretty good last night with no real problems, but i found that interaction to be kind of funny.

should've been in for on defense for Floyd. Floyd for whatever reason(tiredness)he just let Joyce waltz to the lane and the bucket. The simple fact that we don't have Fitch at all now for the rest of the year hurt us big time. Refs were unbelievably horrible as usual though. :rant: Josh also got his knee or leg banged into as well and was hobbled for the rest game , hurting us again. Akron just had more fresh , quicker , athletic bodies being subbed in and out all night , while our rotation is down to only 7 or so. I frankly think we're totally screwed for the year with no Fitch, cuz if Soler can't stop getting into foul trouble , its all over unfortunatly. :ugh: Reimold is just too slow and gets too tired running around a zillion screens trying to get open for 3's so that he has no energy for defense. The guys are trying though and they shouldn't quit , but its a major uphill battle that does not look good any way you look at it.

Our top six played 190 out of a possible 200 minutes. I don't think that is much of a rotation.

And with Josh hobbled, maybe Vandermeer should have been on the floor simply because of his shot blocking ability. :shrug:

LeFeld actually did a decent job on his only shift battling for some rebounds, but that kid can flat out not jump.

Vandermeer is not ready to contribute major minutes yet, but has shown some promise at times this season. I'd really like to see him get 3-7 minutes a game just to get him some reps, because we're gonna need those big guys next year.

Is it because we have zero depth or because our coach has poor substitution patterns? I am with you in that I would like to see Lefeld and Vandermeer get about 5 minutes a game, probably in the first half just to get some experience. And I know Montgomery has his struggles, but I would like to see him get some time as well to get experience. Also to keep Almanson, Reimond, etc a little fresher for down the stretch of games. I think that has really hurt us the last two times out.

Coach doesn't use a big rotation, and he doesn't seem willing to play guys to get experience. Either they earn their way in in practice, or they don't get in. Even with Fitch, he didn't rotate much.

And then rather abruptly left the interview. As if Todd had no business questioning if the guys were a little tired at the end. In my opinion, when a team cannot score points at the end of a game it has a lot to do with fatigue and not having it in your legs. But at least our guys "battled".
