I think any coach in his position needs to take what they can get as there are no guarantees a better position would have opened up next season.

Agreed, but perhaps there isn't a step up that would want him. What if he stayed in BG, there are massive injuries and the team under performs? He struck while the iron was hot and that's what you do.

And who is to say that he wants to be at Wake long term? Not a destination job IMO.

Who is to say he doesn't? Making assumptions on something we don't know is useless. I don't fault him for leaving to go to Wake one bit, he would have probably gone if a BCS team that went 0-12 came calling. Its the nature of the business.

I'm putting the cart before the horse here. If you go to a new place and it does not work out you do run the risk of comitting career suicide. "Grass is not always greener on the other side" so to speak.


All that said, I will be rooting for him at Wake.

If he's poaching BG recruits. He is going to struggle beating Florida State, Clemson, and Louisville.

In fairness, though, we could beat Wake Forest right now, and I don't know that it would be that close.

No surprise here. Kudos to him for letting them finish out the bowl game in BG. Speaks to Dave's class, he could easily have said from the get go that they were coming with him.

He choked up when talking about BG and the players. No question he loved it here and he's a Falcon for life. Will be rooting for them to make some noise in the coming years.

I will definitely be rooting for Clawson and Wake Forest. Why does this seem so different then when Urban left. Is it just that Clawson is light years ahead of Urban in terms of being a human being?

This pretty much puts to bed Elko for head coach. Sounds like maybe Sheier is the only current coordinator interested in staying.

Unless he has a better offer. Really hope Sheier is is retained.

My memory is that Gregg Brandon was probably headed to Utah until he got the head coaching job. Did you see something that eliminates that possibility for Elko?
