Quick thing of note. Kingston is an ACC guy and knows that turf really well. Any up and coming guys there? What sticks out to me is Duke. Cutcliffe got so much out of his team and that reflects highly on his assistants. Any head coach material there?

Lots of times its out of the AD's hands, especially if these candidates have hired agents to represent them and put out feelers. That's how Clawson inevitably got the Wake job, and his agent was responsible for getting that article in SI and getting the word out.

I've seen a few pages of Ohio State fans on message boards begging Fickell to be the next coach at BG. Some even suggesting Meyer is promoting him to Kingston in order to hire a new DC without having to fire a guy. Obviously there's some silliness going on there but none of what I've read makes me think Fickell should be a serious candidate.

Hopefully, my son in law is joking....he just texted that Fickell is going to BG....Hasn't responded back to my "angry" text back, so I hope it IS a joke.... besides, I hate the fact that the PD guy who covers OSU had a MUCH larger "Luke to BG" article than the little tiny article announcing Dave Clawson's departure.... typical OSU and brainwashed Ohio in general thinking.

I would like to see Greg Studrawa come back to BG. He is the line coach at LSU.

I'm gonna guess he makes more as a line coach at LSU than Clawson made as head coach at BG. Money is going to be a big issue if you go after any assistants from bigger schools, especially those in the SEC.

According to USA Today, Stud makes about 510K at LSU....Frankly I'm guessing that's what we'll have to be offering to a new guy anyway.... If a certain young UT coach is getting that, Solich is getting that...how long will it be before the rest of the MAC has to go along or be left behind?

Collin Cowherd all but suggested BG go after Jim Tressel on his national radio show on Monday. He said Tressel deserves another chance, he'll go to a smaller school in the Midwest that needs a coach for a couple years, prove he's still got it, then move to a bigger school again. I was yelling at the radio, BG!!!!
I don't like Ohio state, but Tressel loves ohio. He wants to get back in, needs to prove himself, would be a marketing dream for BG...the recruits from his name alone would make us top in the MAC. If were not pushing for this, we're dumb.

Agreed, if BG hired Tressel before the show cause is up the program could face sanctions and penalties for what Tressel did along with the other things kdog mentioned. We just won the MAC, why would we want to hire someone, while a big name, could bring penalties to the program that hasn't done anything wrong. Tressel isn't going to be a head coach again until 2017, no school is going to take the risk of potential sanctions and penalties, and if they were he'd likely already have another head coaching job by now

In that case, let's be dumb. Tressell is a cheat. Don't want him here. At all. I don't care how well you can coach football - if you can't do it clean, stay away from our program.

good point...we may end up knowong more than the AD wants us to...I suppose it might matter to him how we know it, but in the end...if we know, we know

First year of the show cause was last year, everything I have seen says it ends December 2016. He isn't suspended for any years, its just if a program hires him before the show cause ends there is a chance they could be penalized or given sanctions unless they can "show cause" for why they shouldn't. Also if Tressel hasn't learned his lesson and gets in trouble with the NCAA again the program that hires him could face more severe penalties and sanctions compared to there not being a show cause in effect. Because of this he is basically blackballed from coaching NCAA football til the 2017 season.

As for being suspended, as mentioned earlier in a thread if a school does hire him he will be suspended for the first five games of the season and any championship/bowl game, since he was fired from OSU before being able to serve those penalties

I would want him after its up. In I think just two years and it looks like he is going to be the president at Akron so that ship has sailed
