This pretty much puts to bed Elko for head coach. Sounds like maybe Sheier is the only current coordinator interested in staying.

Unless he has a better offer. Really hope Sheier is is retained.

My memory is that Gregg Brandon was probably headed to Utah until he got the head coaching job. Did you see something that eliminates that possibility for Elko?

It all depends on if those guys want head coaching gigs or not. I'm sure they'll be content with a pay raise having the same duties at an ACC school.

Clawson said he'd like all 3. But 1 (speaking about coordinators) was throwing his name in for the head coaching job. We already know Sheier is the one.

I looked into that Meyer/Brandon thing today...google archives are a hell of a thing. From the Salt Lake Tribune on 12/14/2002 (meyer hired on 12/12/2002)...

Brandon stayed because he and Beckman were both interested in the job. Brandon was hired on 12/19 and brought Stud back with him.

That really is the million dollar question. In the MAC it seems to be evenly split whether to promote a guy or go outside:

Watching that presser, I kept thinking what a class guy DC is. Good for him.

He choked up when talking about BG and the players. No question he loved it here and he's a Falcon for life. Will be rooting for them to make some noise in the coming years.

Exactly how I feel. DC is a very classy dude and I wish him all the success in the world at WF. Hey, maybe BG can sign a 1 for 1 to play the Demon Deacons? I've been to BB&T Stadium...only about 6k more seats than the Doyt and their home side tower is beautiful.

Citadel football coach Kevin Higgins will leave after nine years at the military school to take an assistant coaching job at Wake Forest, The Post and Courier has learned.

Higgins had a record of 43-58 in nine seasons at The Citadel, with two winning seasons -- 7-4 in 2007 and 7-4 again in 2012. Last season, the Bulldogs went 5-7.

.Higgins and new Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson worked together at Lehigh University, where Higgins had a record of 56-25-1 in seven seasons from 1994-2000. The 2014 season would have the final season on Higgins' current contract at The Citadel.

I have to wonder if that means Mark Carney is interested in sticking around BG. If I'm Clawson given all the WR improvement this year and the late production, there's no way I'm not offering Carney that job.
