But didn't Brandon Mack play in several games as well?
It could also be an indication that we dont recruit players who are ready to play right away. The best teams in the nation have true freshman starting.[/quote]
Instead of Ay-ziggy Zoomba this webstie should be called the land of make beleive. You guys have the blinders on so tight its amazing. The truth is we didnt recruit all that well. If we did they would play as freshmen. Didnt Pope not get redshirted when Joe Alls was starting?

Guess you weren't around when some of us were pretty pi$$ed off after the second half debacle at UT.
Of course there still was plenty wearing the blinders then as well.

Interesting contradiction of yourself in just two sentences. Amazing. So Pope was a bad recruit becuase he didn't start as a frosh. Please let us in on the inside information on how good or poor this recruiting class is. You obviuosly know more than us and the coaches. Maybe you were the same person to rate Omar as the 52nd (per Rivals) best QB in the land in 2002. Where are the other 51 QBs from the class of 2002 who are better? I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for your answer.

UK pointed out your contradiction, so I'll leave that alone.
As for not recruiting well, please elaborate. If your sole criterion for labeling this a weak recruiting class is whether or not one or more of them play as freshmen, I think you're using a pretty flimsy grading tool.
As for being the land of make believe, you are generalizing to the point of inaccuracy, to say the least. There are plenty of regular posters here who are critical of the team and program when warranted. Some might say they are overly critical.

I can go on...
Omar Jacobs: redshirted
but not Josh Harris.

Interesting as a year ago we were all quite annoyed with Blackney's decision to burn J5's redshirt.
But, now, knowing what we know Omar to be, how many people would definitely use the J5 redshirt and have had him this past campaign?
It is not as easy an answer as it was some 12 months ago.
I know some people would disagree with me but I would rather have the better passer and desicion maker back there than have the better runner. I loved watching J5 play but I will take Omar's 4 ints over Josh's 14 ints anyday. You are getting something different with both of them, but Jacob's is the type of QB I love. Additionally, Jacobs now has a year of experience under his belt.

Where exactly is the contradiction? PJ Pope was not redshirted because he was a good recruit. That was my point. He was not redshirted despite talent in front of him. Where did I say he was a bad recruit? Someone tried to say that us redshirting all of our recruits spoke to our depth on the team and showed we were headed in a great direction. I responded by saying it may actually have nothing to do with our depth but rather the ability of the players we recruit.
Then someone said I contradicted myself, which I never came close too. I also didnt ever say anything about Jacobs. But the reality is that Jacobs was probably the 52nd best QB coming out that year. Didnt he have a bad injury prior? There are 117 teams in the NCAA. Each year every team tries to recruit about 1 QB. 52nd is middle of the road. I would not be too upset witht hat ranking. After all it is not where you start but rather where you finish. And he has leapfrogged nearly everyone on that list.
