He got whacked by the mob in Montreal in the 90's in a territory dispute over cigarette smuggling. They basically shot him to piecesSan Diego Falcon wrote:How about Dino Bravo?

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Dino Babers should be considered
The EMU's want him and might get him. That would be a coup for them.

Barbers has interviewed at Eastern Michigan and considered the leading candidate.OSUFALCON wrote:Babers makes $175 K, look at his résumé.

Coached at Baylor and several other school.
This would be quality minority hire. Not saying this is a must but it could be a plus.

He should be considered for the job! He has a staff, With some Ohio ties which would help recruiting

Re: Dino Babers should be considered
He was beaten out for the EMU gig by another FCS coach...he spent a lot of years as a collegiate coach and never rose above being a positional coach before heading off to be the head guy at EIU where he went 7-5 and 12-1 with a QB drawing NFL scouts that was there when he got there. Not sure that's what we're looking for here...

He wasn't beaten out, he wasn't hired. Eastern knew they couldn't afford what he was asking for. Eastern MI was looking for valued priced coaches. Epsn u had a behind the seen show on Eastern IL if you can find it watch it. It think this coach commands respect and runs an organized team approach. Eastern IL was far from being a power in the Ohio Valley Conference, they have now won two in a conference championships. They play Friday night on espn2. Maybe he isn't a good fit but I think he's worth a good look. He's worked under several good coaches.Flipper wrote:He was beaten out for the EMU gig by another FCS coach...he spent a lot of years as a collegiate coach and never rose above being a positional coach before heading off to be the head guy at EIU where he went 7-5 and 12-1 with a QB drawing NFL scouts that was there when he got there. Re: Dino Babers should be considered
It's a decent hire IMO. Head coaching experience means something in this league. He's not Clawson or Lembo but is probably as close as they were going to get to that.
Re: Dino Babers should be considered
Creighton's contract is 5 years, $400k per year. 3rd highest paid MAC coach. What did he want? Besides something completely unrealistic for a coach with his resume.OSUFALCON wrote:I know personal with Eastern IL footballFalcon137 wrote:You know this, how?OSUFALCON wrote:He wasn't beaten out, he wasn't hired. Man, I wanted Tressel.
