Nick Monroe and Larry McDaniel are staying at BG with Coach Babers according to John Wagner. John Hunter was offered a position, but is going with Clawson to Wake Forest.

Sucks to lose Hunter...our recruiting coordinator...but I'm glad Monroe and McDaniel are staying.

Monroe is also a key cog in recruiting so keeping him is awesome news. Best of luck to Hunter!

Best of luck to all the coaches moving on wherever they go. Whatever coach hires Scheier and Carney is going to be really happy.

What's Adam Sheirs' (sp) status? Is he also headed to Wake now, or will he get a job on the new staff? Glad, by the way, that Nick Monroe is staying...has done a heck of a job recruiting Fla. in particular.

But too bad about John Hunter moving on...though he probably sees this as a career move...Can't blame him, but have to thank him for a heck of a job with the RB's thru the yrs.

If you look at his current staff then factor in Monroe and McDanie and the negative one coaching numberl. It seems like Brock and Kaklis and Freeman would be the odd people out. Now people change coaching positions all the time and Freeman has coached the OL, and Kaklis was a head coach. I would think if Brock comes, and Monroe isn't promoted to DC that Brock would be a GA. Not sure how many of our GA's will stay. Seems lame to get rid of those guys when they are in school as well.

OC-Sterlin Gilbert-Joined Babers at EIU after coaching HS in Texas. Somewhat young.
DC-Kim McCloud-Coached at Baylor from 2008-2009, Akron 2010 and then EIU last 2 years.
DB-Chanterius Brock-HS coach in Michigan but seems for not many years
DL-Tom Freeman-30 year vet of coaching at Purdue, Arizona St and Pittsburgh (all with Babers) as well as the CFL.
DT-Dino Kaklis-Former Purdue long snapper was head coach at Bethel and held all time wins lead.
LB-Tom Kaufman-Former John Carroll player coached at Heidelberg and Case before stints at Texas and Kansas
WR-Sean Lewis-Former Wisconsin TE coached HS in Illinois, was Grad Assistant at Akron
RB-Mke Lynch-EIU Coach for 9 years prior was at Utah State
OL-Matt Mattox-First year with Babers, coached at Junior College prior, was a TE and T for Briles at Houston
WR-Andrew Sowder-Coached and Played at Baylor as a student. Was Babers assistant at Baylor

For the offensive staff, you'd have to think the EIU offensive coordinator would be the best bet to get their head coaching job to preserve the system unless he's like Elko and for whatever reason doesn't want to be a HC just yet. The EIU position coaches are very young and it would seem to make more sense to bring someone in like Briles' son from Baylor to serve as the OC rather than elevate one of them. Just guessing, of course.

Hunter is very close to Stud as they were teammates together in the 80's. He might have been displeased that he wasn't chosen.

FootballScoop says the whole EIU staff is coming with the exception of the other Dino and Chanterius Brock (an onomatologist would have a field day with those two).

I wonder how this is going to work given EIU had two WR coaches and a DT and a DL coach. I read somewhere in this thread you can only have a certain amount of assistants.
