One big win in Clawson career at BG

He got BG a MAC title. For that, I'm grateful. It broke a 20 plus year streak.

Too bad he couldn't have had enough pride to stick around and coach the bowl game, too. Maybe the outcome would have been different.

The interim staff didn't cut it tonight, and the players were obviously not prepared for this game. They played like they wanted to be elsewhere most of the time.

Yea, it would have been nice to have our staff in place to play a 6-6 team. There is a subset of people rationalizing Clawson's, and a lot of his staff's migration.$$$$
Most people I have talked with think it was pretty low.

Geez...I know this was a disappointing loss, but it was a great game to watch in person and I had a heck of a good time tonight. Clawson has put us in a position to have a multi-year run at the top of the conference. He left us in far better shape than he found us....I think that's about all you can ask for.

Really happy we finally won a MAC title, but it sure would have been nice to cap this season off with a bowl win. We ended our MAC title drought but now we're working on a bowl win drought. Next season will mark a decade since out last win in one as we've now dropped our last four bowls.

It was a very good season, but a win would sure would have made it a great one IMO. When you win a game like this, it's awesome. But a loss in one of these is tough. This one will sting for awhile but I do feel the team that won deserved it. If sure would be nice to find a way to finally start winning all of these close games.

I sat through Tulsa 63, BG 7. THAT one was a tough one. The LCPB was basically a coin flip. Change a few what-ifs around, most notably another non call on a hit to the head of our QB, and the result might change too. 2014 can't get here soon enough.

IMO, I would rather lose handily than lose close. Tulsa kicked the hell out of us and there was no doubt about it. Losing to Pitt by three or Idaho by one, those are games you can go back and find a numbers of plays that if just one goes a different direction, you might come out on top. Yes, a loss is a loss, but the woulda/coulda/shouldas eat at me big time after a close one. I would rather have lost tonight by 21 than in the final minute and change by 3. But that's just me.

With coaches preparing to leave at game's end the team was still in position to win. Got beat by a team and staff that really needed a win and had enough talent to barely pull it out.

Proud of the effort and feel good about an exciting future.

I'm with you. I was in the band at the time of the GMAC whomping and the Idaho game. The GMAC one definitely hurt the least. Can't really gauge Idaho since the refs truly screwed us. This one definitely hurt though.

I will say that I really liked Clawson for our team. He took over a huge mess, and cleaned it up. For that, I'm thankful.

Having said that, I think it was time for him to move on. There us no doubt that his system struggled in big games, and I don't think that would have improved had he stayed.

It's time to embrace a coach with a more aggressive and volatile approach to the game.

Enter coach Babers. Let's hope the good times roll.

Interesting. I always feel better when the team I want to win isn't 56 points behind at the end of the game. Not that the LCPB was a feeling of elation, just kind of somebody's gotta win and somebody's gotta lose.

In my head I know business is business, but my heart doesn't understand how a coach who has worked so hard to build up a program can not hold out to leave his post until after the season is over. To me, it seems like a character flaw, but I guess nobody is going to offer me a big$ to go root for Wake either.

Tricky situation for all parties involved. If Clawson coaches BG and they stink up the joint, Wake has second thoughts about the hire. You also wonder if the players would have wanted him back knowing his focus wouldn't be on BG football any longer. Its the sad reality of college football today, especially at the mid-major level. Can't get too attached to coaches as fans because they could be gone in a snap of a finger.
