I really doubt this happens, but is anyone worried about Art Briles to Texas and then Baylor will need a new head coach? It wouldn't look great on Dino but that's such a tremendous step up that I wouldn't blame him if he did it.

No, I'm pretty certain a school on the level of Baylor isn't going to hire a guy who has no FBS coaching experience only because he used to work under Briles for a couple years.Globetrotter wrote:I really doubt this happens, but is anyone worried about Art Briles to Texas and then Baylor will need a new head coach? He hasn't even coached his first practice or even had his first recruit sign and you are already speculating him leaving???

I would think not but if they want to keep what Briles had going he might be one of the few with head coaching experience in the pipeline.jpfalcon09 wrote:No, I'm pretty certain a school on the level of Baylor isn't going to hire a guy who has no FBS coaching experience only because he used to work under Briles for a couple years.Globetrotter wrote:I really doubt this happens, but is anyone worried about Art Briles to Texas and then Baylor will need a new head coach? Re: Lets bring in Dino!
I have followed BG football since 07 and I feel that as a team we always can't finish close games, we go out of our way to commit stupid penalties that make big differences in close game. I hope that the new regime can instill some better discipline and execution for future teams because I'm getting tired of BG always letting me down when the games really matter, the only time we didn't play like this would have been the NIU game this yr. Pitt, -oledo, Kent state last season and Florida last season are all examples of games we could have won if we were closers and more disciplined
Re: Lets bring in Dino!
One thing Brandon did well ... he won close games (except for of course those four conference losses in 2008). 2006 was an awful season but it would have been worse had we not beaten EMU, FIU, and UB in tight games. The top win in 2007 was Minnesota and that was a tight win. Under Clawson there were several tight wins in 2009 but since then the only ones were 2010 CMU and 2011 Temple. So many tight losses in those years, from 2009 Mizzou to yesterday. And of course that 2010 team was bad at 2-10, but they were four plays from bowl eligibility.

Even better: wins over Indiana, Wisconsin, steamroll the MAC and end up bring home the bacon with a BCS berth.

I feel like someone moved directly from Youngstown State (I-AA) to a bcs gig about 10-15 years ago, and had some success.jpfalcon09 wrote:No, I'm pretty certain a school on the level of Baylor isn't going to hire a guy who has no FBS coaching experience....
But, yes, this is a ridiculous discussion.

Tressel was a last resort hire for OSU as nobody good wanted the job and he had over 10 years as a HC at YSU....it's not really an even comparison.

Nor is OSU and Baylor. I don't think he will be hired down there but I bet he is on people's lists.Flipper wrote:Tressel was a last resort hire for OSU as nobody good wanted the job and he had over 10 years as a HC at YSU....it's not really an even comparison.
