Any chance for a medical redshirt? If anyone deserves it Germain does.

Todd Walker mentioned during the broadcast that Fitch wouldn't play the rest of the season but did not elaborate as to what the injury is exactly.

I would think that Germain has gone beyond the threshold of games for a medical redshirt and having already had one, it would seem unlikely although Jason White from Oklahoma has shown 6 years is achievable. A speedy wish of recovery to Germain and let's hope that this isn't surgery #4 on the way.

This is a sick tragedy - the worse news to hit this program since John Flowers. At least Colin Irish and Anthony Stacey were fortunate enough to come back from their injury and play normally.

Germain has already used his medical redshirt year. It's my understanding that a players only allowed 1 redshirt year of any sort. I've never heard of a player being given two. (....I wonder if there could be a loophole due to the nature of how the injury occurred....)

Germain still has an entire year of eligibility remaining, and he contributes greatly off the court. Also, this seams to be a new injury unrelated to his original ACL injury (correct me if I'm wrong). So, perhaps the recovery want be as long and difficult.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

If the "normal" redshirt has been used, a player can petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibilty if they get hurt early in a season. Jason White, QB for Oklahoma is the biggest example. He also had two ACL surgeries and missed two full seasons. The 2003 season was his senior year. Then in the spring of 2004 he petioned the NCAA and was granted a sixth year of eligiblity.

I feel terrible for Germain to get another non-game injury. He has gone through way too many injuries to suffer another one. He brings so much energy and toughness to our lineup that we can't replace with anyone else currently on the roster. We could have really used him tonight when Maui and Cory got in foul trouble. Best of luck to him in the rehab.

I agree. It's over with. Germain should have gotten off the floor when the buzzer sounded. Blame him. Dan should have thrown his body in between the fan and Germain. Where was the Sr. leadership? THEY all three should have shielded Germain from the hideous throng of the swarming chest-thump of Sworden.

Seriously, give it a rest, it's over with. The fan and the player have made peace with the situation, why can't everyone else?
