Don't take this the wrong way but, but I really have to wonder that if the person wasn't an Anderson Animal, and someone like me committed the crime, would people on here be sticking up for me??

Germain was many peoples favorite player, and many people feel that we NEED Germain if we want to win the MAC this year, and if that upsets people, I think they have the right to vent. People vent on this website all the time. . . . think about that.

There was no f'n crime. He didn't pull a freaking gun on him. He chest bumped him and Germain landed on his leg at a funny angle.

I probably wouldn't stick up for you because I do not know you. I will stick up for Sworden though because he is a great fan.

This has nothing to do with him being an Animal...even without the shirt he would have done the same thing because he gets into the games and lets his emotions run wild. Is this a bad thing, sometimes yes, but I'm fine with that because of the dedication he has towards our sporting teams. It's not like he went home that night and threw a party because he hurt Fitch...he feels terrible about it so just let it go!

Prior to this incident, Germain had injured his ACL three times. Given the nature of ACL injuries, this 4th injury was bound to happen sooner or later. DD himself understood this and was holding his breath with every practice and game. Germain could've reinjured his knee walking to class, getting out of a car, slipping in the shower, etc. We all sensed that he was on borrowed time, and this is part of the reason why Germain has been hailed for having so much courage.

This kid that some would indict chest bumped a well conditioned, 6-5 220lb, tough college athlete who had just run a basketball court for 20 minutes. Should he have stopped to think "Gee, I better stay away from this fragile, delicate creature or I might hurt him."? C'mon. Does this really make any sense at all? How times do you suppose Germain had done something like that with a teammate in the locker room, horsing around in the dorms, or whatever?

I think BGorDeath has a valid point, as does the poster(sorry?) who suggested the theory about the fast start. It's as simple as this, we have marginal D-1 point guard play. Floyd is a defensive liability against anyone on the schedule and I would wager he has given up more than he scored on 18 of 18 occassions. Moon is going to be a nice addition, but he's at least a year to a year and a half away from being significantly better than Floyd. The talent is there, but it's very raw at this point.

We win when we shoot the ball well (48% or higher) b/c that brings out our defensive motivation. We don't shoot well, we get beat, plain and simple. I hate to be the one who puts a damper on things, b/c I think it's rather unfortunate that Germaine is apparently hurt again. I wouldn't wish one ACL on anyone, much less four, but outside of the 5 minute spark of brillance against Toledo, Germaine, contrastly to Floyd, is an OFFENSIVE liability. He rebounds, but rarely had the same bounce as before and understandably so. Germaine's contributions came on defense where he gives you five more fouls at the 3, he can guard three and some nights four positions and always leaves his heart on the floor. I don't think his loss devastates the team other than it's tough to see a guy work so hard, only to lose it all with 10 more games left. Hopefully Germaine can be more of a vocal/inspirational leader now.

These thoughts only come to mind as I looked at the current MAC seedings:

1) Miami 9-2, best record in the conference by two games
2) Ball State, 7-4 in the conference, but has head to head wins over WMU and BG as of now to squeak out the West.
3) Ohio/Akron/Western . . . There's a convuluted tie-breaker in there.

8- Toledo
9- Buffalo

4- OU/Akron/Western
13- Marshall

5- OU/Akron/Western
12- Central Michigan

6- Kent, by percentage points over BG since there's no head-up matchup yet
11- Eastern

7- Bowling Green, decent match-up for us, they're a bunch of shooters, but extremely young and have athletic guys at 4 and 5. Lack consistent guard play, but in a year or two watch out! Kinda like our story . . .
10- Northern Illinois

Woh, Woh, Woh...I don't know how I got on the Floyd train but let me off on the next stop!

Floyd has surprised me at how well he runs the offense. Not saying he's great, but he's better than I expected. However, he is an absolute liability on defense.

I like John, he plays hard, but he's never going to be anything more than average as a MAC PG.

I'm going to have to second that - his ball-handling is high school level, not to mention the fact that he is the shortest guy on the team. When you're guarding a guy whose got three inches on you, its gets to be a challenge that only a few people can overcome. Solid player, just not a standout.
