I.... don't hate it.

Granted, I am a little bit of a uni-traditionalist, but as a standalone piece, it's not bad. It's not overly crowded or gimmick-y feeling, (aside from the obvious use of black instead of a more traditional BGSU color), and the stripe pattern is actually pretty cool. I'd love to see a slight compromise with a brown helmet instead of black though. Wouldn't be a big change, especially with as fairly dark a shade of brown as we tend to use, but it would go a long way towards being special to BGSU.

SICK!

Only thing I'm not sure I like is the facemask being painted like that. Wasnt a fan of Oregon States facemask, so that's the a downfall.

I think it would be appropriate include the falcon logo used last the last few decades somewhere on the black helmet. Maybe on the back at the base? A small imprint of that to honor the past,

I like them. However, I am with Ydfalcon. I think it would be awesome in brown.

Maybe I've gone colorblind but it appears to look like a very, very dark shade of brown.

This was just a little project I was working on to see how it turned out. I have 5 full-size BG helmets with this being the fifth and the only custom one of the bunch. I have thee orange ones beginning with the "LT" Falcon logo, the interlocking BG logo and the current orange matte helmet with the current BG peekaboo Falcon logo we are using with the new tapered stripe. I also have the new white helmet we are using too. I wanted to add a custom helmet to the collection. This is a flat black matte shell with the same striping that Oregon State used on the shell and face mask. The orange stripe down the center of the helmet, and the part on the face mask is actually an orange chrome. The number on the back is also chrome, as is the American Flag decal. I wanted to try something different. I'm actually on the fence with that face mask. At first I thought it looked ugly, but in person, it has grown on me. I kind of like the feature of how the colors on the helmet carry down through the face mask. But I would probably prefer a solid black face mask and our current strip down the middle if BG ever went wit an alternative black helmet. But this look sure makes it stand out and more unique and certainly has more pop to it.

I plan to do another custom helmet soon, and this one will definitely be brown. I am thinking of a flat brown matte with a solid brown face mask with out current logos on the side and stripping down the middle. If I don't do the flat brown matte, I will do the leathered shell that the Washington Redskins used as one of their throwback helmets (solid brown shell, but up close it looks like actual leather). Whenever I get that done I will toss it on here to check out.

I love the orange chrome. I'd like to see a "large Falcon head" helmet with the orange being chrome. Similar to this Boise State helmet.

Something like this:

If the orange was metallic I think that would look pretty cool.

I don't understand the current infatuation with using BLACK as a replacement for our traditional school colors. I'm not opposed to new looks, got used to the white helmet pretty quickly, but this black stuff frankly turns me off. And it seems as if we're just copying what other schools have done.
I know for a fact that our contract with Adidas is in its last year, and that they allegedly don't "carry" brown as a standard color...and our new AD has said he'll look into all choices.
My son said that Under Armour has a color that they call Cleveland Browns Brown or similar... no reason we can't use our school colors in a different way without going to odd colors. :-k

I would love to see a matte brown helmet with the old "LT" logo (with the white middle). In order to make the brown outline of the logo visible on the brown helmet, you could just put the logo on a patch of orange on the side of the helmet. You could fade out the edges of the orange into the brown, kind of like LSU fades out their tiger eye on the field logo, or even do the orange as a sunburst fade.

It would also be cool to do a brown orange and white camo pattern, which could be worn at a november home game close to Veterens Day as part of a salute to veterans. Too bad we don't have Phil Knight to foot the bill for some fancy new duds.

I cannot say this enough but that facemask is HORRIBLE. Do NOT paint the facemask like that. That just looks stupid. Standing alone as it is, maybe it looks ok. But put that on a players head and the painted facemask looks horrendous in front of thier face.
