BOO BOO in all star game
BG's BOOBOO Gates has been selected to play in the NFLPA sponsored Bowl game in Cal. on Jan. 18..(sorry I can't think of "official" title)....glad to see he's being recognized for an outstanding career though I'd never heard of this game before....(started in 2012).

Re: BOO BOO in all star game
Bayer is playing in one as well. Good to see
Re: BOO BOO in all star game
Most people consider "Boo-Boo Gates" to be the series of scandals that beset their local elementary school during a particulalry fierce run of unsanctioned dodgeball games. This should showcase the talents of Gates the football player.

Re: BOO BOO in all star game
Not sure WHICH team he's been assigned to as I watched a bit of the "practice session" for the American team last nite on ESPN and didn't see him anywhere...DID see an OU helmet as the camera scanned players, so I don't know how this deal works. Anyway, I hope he'll do well, both for himself AND for his alma mater.

Looks like he's on the "American" team, along with the OU player.

If the professoriate class thinks athletics promotes "irrational jingoism" (an actual expression used on this forum a few months back) this certainly won't disabuse them of that notion. 'merica

Re: BOO BOO in all star game
I'm assuming you've been watching BooBoo's game....anybody else see it? We were preparing for company and I had errands to run, never got to see either his OR Alex's game. Some reports on either or both would be appreciated.

Re: BOO BOO in all star game
As mentioned, Boo Boo had a very nice INT in the game. Also got talked up quite a bit by the commentators (including former NFL GM Bill Polian) after that play and a couple tackles. They seemed pretty impressed by his game and week of practice. Late in the game, they were pushing Twitter to vote for game MVP and Boo Boo was one of maybe 6 players they showed. He gets a mention at the end of this write-up of the game: http://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal ... ults-score" target="_blank
Didn't see Bayer's game, but thought I read a couple places that he got noticed a few times by the announcers, as well.

Re: BOO BOO in all star game
On twitter The Blade's John Wagner said Bayer "opened some eyes" with the scouts due to his versatility...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: BOO BOO in all star game
I hope his play increased his chances. He seems like a great kid and I'd love to see him (and Bayer) have a shot at the next level.
Re: BOO BOO in all star game
They had Boo Boo returning punts as well. He didn't have much blocking but nevertheless made a few people miss.
Bayer looked good and more than held his own. He mishandled a rollout pass that was overthrown by Jordan Lynch. Jimmy Garoppalo from EIU looked fantastic and got the MVP. The better for him, the better for Babers/Gilbert and the better for BG.
