BGSU vs. LSSU

Post by footballguy51 »

Apparently any post within the past week is missing, so I'm not sure if anybody posted updates on this game.

I was at the Friday game. The team looked great, and our goals looked fantastic. However, we seemed to get tired towards the end of the game and the Lakers walked all over us. During the last period we had only 1 shot on goal until the last few minutes!

Any other comments? Was anybody at the Saturday game?

We were so good Saturday night that we scored a goal for them. In the first three minutes. And still won 6-2. Domination. Great crowd. We need to finish games as you saw Friday. This team's talent level is incredibly ahead of three years ago. When all of our parts are working together, we can beat anyone in the country. And, if you don't finish, lose to anyone.

That is what is great about college hockey.

So, fellas, let's finish.

(Been watching our former leagues rivals to our south. Interesting results for the Redhawks this season. Interesting attendance numbers. They get respect from me but… I'm just saying- watch out!)

Go Falcons!

domination is the word. showing depth at every position. Burke or Sholl, take your pick--either way we've got goaltending. Sloat and Delgadillo got the call over Sullivan and Perrier, and stepped up. Sloat with with 3 blocked shots and an assist.

we only had two guys go to the box, all night.

surprisingly good crowd, considering the game at the Stroh going on at the same time... brilliant scheduling.
the students were a force, way more amped than Friday. excellent work, even if they did unfortunately bring back the asshole chant...

Nice win on Saturday after the disappointing finish on Friday. The home stretch will be interesting to see how we position ourselves for the playoffs. I think we are a pretty average team in a pretty average conference. I dont see us being a consistent threat to any top 10 team. We may sneak a win here or there against the big boys, but we are still clearly a step or two behind the NCAA tournament particpants. At this point everything depends on if we can get to grand rapids and pull back to back upsets.

I've been watching their "progress" as well and am just giddy with delight and trying to behave myself and not gloat too much online...
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Attended my first BG hockey game in 20 years. While it wasn't like the atmosphere when I was on campus, 85-90, I am excited about the program. I think Coach Bergeron is on the right track. I wish there were more bleacher creatures (and less swearing). Chanting Bullsh-- is one thing, calling players a--holes is completely unnecessary. I thought the chant at the ref after the DeSalvo penalty was very funny and original.

Good luck the rest of the way team and please avoid the gray jersey's!

What was that chant? Couldn't qute make out the words in section A. Funny how official "2" thought that penalty was on LSSU and had come down to their end of the rink for the faceoff. He looked rather confused when the linesman told him it was called on DeSalvo.

You'd think an official with the same last name as the league's director of officials would've known that fluke goal counted.

Overall, BG controlled the majority of the weekend. Unfortunately, taking 30 minutes off Friday night cost them the game. That absolutely cannot happen. I actually asked someone if we should spot them a 2 goal lead so we could fight back and get the win. I had no more than said that and the fluke goal was scored.

poltergeist, the bball 6 pm and hockey 7 pm starts were not our deal. It was a 2 pm/7 pm set. The basketball game was picked to be televised by the network and it went to 6pm.

I personally thought both crowds were decent. Hockey much much louder and more involved. I took in some roundball before the puck dropped.

Go Falcons!

PDT, they were yelling an old Section A chant: I'm blind, I'm deaf, I want to be a ref!
