I didn't see anything wrong with Ryan's tweets. If you're speaking about the tweet referring to a specific person in attendance...he's a journalist. He's supposed to notice such things and point them out.

As for the game, he was right when he said it was a bunch of missed shots and turnovers. A big portion of the game looked like a slop fest. I'm glad we won, but it was an ugly game.

I think it was more the "editorial" type tone of that tweet ("Gotta be kidding me..."), than the fact that he tweeted it, that ruffled people's feathers. I was more than impressed by the response of the UT Women's BB Fan Club:
Toledo Igniters ‏@ToledoIgniters
@coingersoll @AutulloBlade PS.. Ali, if you read this you're welcome at Savage anytime you are a great competitor and did a lot 4 wbb in NWO

Go Falcons!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

You are correct FF. It was the tone of his tweet. Could have been more professional. Wonder what he would have tweeted if she was sitting behind Jess Slagle and the UT bench?

It wasn't just the tone...there's also the basic issue of factual accuracy. As Ms Ingersoll pointed out...she wasn't fired, she resigned. I think that's an important distinction for a number of reasons and it's not the kind of detail a professional should be wrong on.

You guys are nitpicking. The point is that it was very odd that someone who had been essentially dismissed from the program for wildly inappropriate behavior was sitting behind the bench.

Editorializing is easy and lazy. Actual reporting, fact gathering and fact checking are hard. There are examples every day of which side is winning out.

Does BG have a journalism program? You'd think they would teach this stuff.

Let me put it this way...had he simply tweeted "Ali Mann, the asst who resigned from the program last year, is sitting behind the BG bench" I wouldn't have had a problem. That's a simple recitation of the facts and you can let people make their own judgment about the propriety of it. By editorializing within the story he crossed the line from reporter to commentator. By getting the facts wrong he crossed a line between solid journalism and laziness. So...he screwed up on two counts in my book.

Wow, I missed all the good stuff. I have way too much to do than to be on Twitter during the games.

Evidently, I need to put Ryan Autillo on my s**t list for being a moron. Yeah, Ali goes to a lot of games, what of it? Should we put an initial on her back and do an old fashioned shunning? The last time I checked, this is still a free country. I would imagine we'll see her at the Stroh Center and EMU as she still hangs out in Ann Arbor.

Far be it for us to judge her.

Had he simply retweeted that Ali was sitting behind our bench, he'd probably be an unemployed reporter. Simply reporting the facts, although proper, is boring. The fact that we're talking about this a full day after a women's basketball game means he's probably safe in his job.

Cullop is beloved in Toledo which can be attributed to the near 4,000 per game attendance average. But, some of us are noticing her recruiting woes...she misses more than hits. I think Toledo is at best a .500 team for a couple years because of youth and lack of talent.

Ali Mann has attended quite a number of BG Women's games this season. She sits behind the bench at road games. She has also been at the Stroh.

She resigned, she wasn't band from the program. The players still talk to her. There were several former players in that row----BG and Toledo.

Someone needs to get their facts corrected and let go of the past. If the BG coaching staff is good with it then your thoughts are just your opinion

based on the picture you have in your own mind of the situation last season.

She is part of the program's history. As Jennifer referred to herself when she first started coaching- young and dumb. That phrase could be said of Ali.

Yesterday Ryan saw her because his beat is Rocket Women's Basketball, his frame of reference. It surprised him because he doesn't see her at other venues.

It's time to let Ali be removed from the fire.

Sorry...I don't buy that one bit. I think Autollo's biggest problem is that he lacks a governor...he writes stupid things because stupid things pop into his head and he has no method to keep them from escaping. Twitter seems to be a medium best suited for people who don't need to seriously think about what it is that they're saying. It's medium that he seems ill suited for.

So you think twitter is a medium for people who write smart things?
