Just like this forum, there is no real "editor", just your brain and how you were trained to write. Heck, even the moderator is pretty much missing.
Ryan would never have gotten the Ali comment into the newspaper, because it isn't news and it certainly doesn't belong on the Op Ed page either.
He's still pond scum in my book.

If a male coach on the Women's Basketball team had the same accusations brought forward against them, that person would have been crucified. They would have been fired and instructed to never sit behind the BGSU bench. Has ANYBODY thought about that?

There also have not been any males that I'm aware of, that were one of the best and well liked members of the women's basketball team.

Didn't the players like Jerry Sandusky at Penn State? If he wasn't in jail now, I bet he wouldn't be at the games. Same is true for Jim Tressel. He's not in jail, but he doesn't go to the OSU games. In fact, the fans STILL love him and the players liked him as well.
Just because she was a really good player and the current players like her doesn't mean she gets a pass on everything.

Exactly...she damaged if not destroyed a promising coaching career. Comparing her in any way shape or form to a pedophile is beyond offensive. I have no problem with her being at the games or associating with past and present players. They're adults...it's a free country.
In fact...I would hope that at some point the University consider her for the HOF. She earned it on the court.

I think he does great work and as a fellow BG grad I fully support him.HoopsFan wrote:No, pond scum for representing himself as a reporter.

I found it odd that he said it was OK to her to attend the game but inappropriate to be in the first row. It begs the question of what an appropriate amount of distance from the team would be...third row, lower bowl, nosebleed section?

Seems to me that this subject has been beat to death...maybe we could move on to something else, like congratulating Alexis Rogers on her player of the week award.

Not sitting essentially with the team that she committed poor behavior with. Sitting with them shows some acceptance of her behavior.mscarn wrote:I found it odd that he said it was OK to her to attend the game but inappropriate to be in the first row. This stuff is much simpler then what you guys want it to be.

Re: BG v tsun
Globe understands what I'm saying. Yes, she didn't do anything illegal. But she did do something morally wrong. And quite honestly, it could be deemed illegal if any favoritism occurred. I don't know the specifics of what ACTUALLY happened (and I'm not sure anybody else does either), but Globe hit the nail on the head when he mentioned that essentially sitting with the team is almost making a public statement that her actions (whatever they were) are acceptable to the team. Mentioning that she was a star player when she played here and that the current players like her is not a defense. My question regarding a male coach being involved in the same scenario is fitting because Ali was acting as a coach. Trying to give her a pass for whatever happened simply because she's well liked and she was a star player at the school isn't right. She was a coach and therefore should be treated as a coach--a person with authority over the players. Sexual harassment allegations could have been brought forth. Anybody ever hear of quid pro quo? I don't think you all understand what actually could have happened if she didn't resign. Ryan's tweet basically saying, "A former coach who had an amorous relationship with a student on the team is essentially sitting with the team...seems odd and inappropriate" is perfectly fitting. Dismiss this entire post if you wish, but those are the facts.Globetrotter » Tue Feb 04, 2014 11:45 am

I know almost nothing about he situation or woman's basketball. I think it's cool that we are good and couldn't care much less beyond that. 51 nails this one.
If the action that she did was bad enough to get her kicked out of the program, she shouldn't be around the program. If it wasn't she shouldn't have been kicked out of the program. It's that simple. There isn't a middle ground because she is likable and was a good player.

She resigned from the program. She wasn't as you put it kicked out of the program. I think if you would ask, the majority of BG fans have no problems with Ali attending games this season. People will forgive and forget. Again nothing illegal happened. Let's just move on and give the women's basketball team the support it deserves.
