How long do you expect it to take to find the new coach?

Maybe we should do a poll or something like people do for when a baby will finally pop out. I imagine that they already have done some of the leg work.

It will be announced that he is not being brought back either the night of the last game, or the following morning. My guess is a new coach is in place before the end of March.

Final 4 or shortly after. I would be surprised if Kingston isn't interviewing final candidates that weekend.

It is definitely unethical to interview candidates when we still officially have a coach. However I bet Kingston has a short list of candidates at any given point, and I'm also guessing some of his former connections are watching closely and will contact him about the opening as soon as it is indeed open. This *should* be a fast search.

Since it's not a secret that Louie will not be back next year, I think it would be foolish to think the AD hasn't at least put out feelers. Unless the next coach is involved in tournaments, I'm guessing that it would be done as soon as Orr is canned or within a couple of days.

We don't need much of a 'search' since it's already known that BG needs a coach.

Why do we always think the answer is an assistant coach from a big time school. Seldom does it work out. Just look at he history of the MAC and most recently Ball State, Kent State, Central Michigan and Northern Illinois. The former head coach at Toledo from Notre Dame was also a very poor choice to name a few. How about someone who has passion to be at Bowling Green and would immediately bring excitement to the program. Why would we not strongly consider Anthony Stacey. Leading scorer in the history of Bowling Green basketball, 2000 MAC player of the year, member of the BGSU Hall of Fame, and member of the BGSU Wall of Honor, not to mention two MAC championships before there was divisional play and two post season NIT appearances. Maybe the most popular Falcon player ever because of the passion he brought to the floor. His jersey currently hangs in the Stroh Center. He brings the same passion to his coaching. I think we should choose substance over style and consider the many positive things he would bring to the program. Most importantly a revived fan base. He has always been a winner as a high school player, a college player, as a professional player and currently as a head high school coach at division I Medina High School where his team is currently 15-3. Our loss will be someone elses gain. Just ask Iowa State if they made a poor choice in Fred Hoiberg who brought no prior coaching experience and currently has them in the top 15 in the country. I hope I am not the only Falcon fan who feels so strongly about him.

There is so much to be done as head coach that I don't think you can pin your hopes on a hall-of-fame player who's experience is at the HS level. You must look for someone that has been given multiple responsibilities as an assistant or someone that has been a head coach at a lower paying program. I think it would be a unwise to give a DI coaching job to someone who has not worked their way up from grad assistant to assistant to preferably (in my opinion) a lower level head coaching job. Stacy may have passion but does that really mean he provides substance? I like the hire TSUN made and it seems to be a good model for success. Find a good coach that we can give a better paycheck and let's compete for that automatic bid - it's time.

I would love Anthony Stacey but it would be a huge risk. (Maybe this is the right time to take a risk.) He would be passionate and that would certainly resonate with recruits.
I'm just worried that he's not ready, at least yet, for it. If by chance he were hired, I'd be excited about the passion and excitement he would bring. I do hope he is involved in some capacity in the future of BGSU basketball.

Iv been to 4 home games this year and I have watched all the other ones. It's pretty clear to me that Anthony Stacey would do very well here. All of his positive characteristics are what we are lacking and need. I can't really think of a coach that would have the kind of passion for this job as he would.

Experience sounds good but what it all boils down to is bring in someone with Confidence, Passion, Work Ethic, and Communicator. This program needs someone who will get this program fighting. They play with NO edge or aggressiveness. So who cares about experience. Who is going to change the culture of this program?

Then maybe we should just hire Tony Little. He is from northwest ohio and enthusiastic, confident,passionate, has work ethic and is an incredible communicator.

There are worse ideas than Anthony Stacey as Head Coach, but even though he was one of my favorite players all time, the program needs someone with far more experience. I would fully support hiring him as maybe the second or third assistant.
