Um... no I'm pretty sure I'm just one person and I'm pretty sure I'm an alumnus. I'm not embarrassed by the school on my diploma just the hockey team.

If the hockey team makes you feel embarrassed I can only imagine how men's basketball makes you feelIBleedOrangeAndBrown wrote:Um... no I'm pretty sure I'm just one person and I'm pretty sure I'm an alumnus. I'm not embarrassed by the school on my diploma just the hockey team.

Seriously it is just Birdman. A moron who needs attention and he's been given five pages of it. This is my final post on the matter.

Re: Enough is Enough
There's not much of a difference between the two teams. That's what's pathetic about BGSU fans. Everyone wants Orr gone but hey Bergeron deserves a contract extension and a bonus because hockey won more than five games this year. At least Orr is a good mentor to his players. There's no Mingo on the men's basketball team.

Re: Enough is Enough
Men's basketball has outperformed hockey....not trying to pick a fight or anything, but over the course of the past 20 years...10 years or five years...basketball has been better.
Do we have a coach that was the right guy to get us from a shambles to stability but not the guy to make the program relevant nationally?

^ I agree the men's basketball program is better.
Re: Enough is Enough
Even trying to start an argument of which sport has been better is ludicrous.
IBleed, it's obvious you are a recent alum (maybe even still a student). I suggest you do some research and find out just where this team has been. There is some very interesting reading on this board alone if you go back a few years. And when you think you have it all figured out, dig deeper and you may get an understanding of just how things have gotten to this point.
Nobody expected 100% smooth sailing in this rebuild. There will be setbacks. It's not only part of sports, but life as well. Every team has them. It's going to take time before the consistency it takes to have a championship caliber team returns. The seniors committed to a team that was on the chopping block, with an interim coach. The fact that this team has come as far as it has in 4 years is a huge step in the right direction.

oh dear, the Troll is wrong again.
Men's hoops has the lowest multi-year Academic Progress Rate score of any sport at BGSU.
The hockey team scored a perfect 1,000 for the 2011-12 year. not to mention, 11 WCHA scholar-athletes (GPA above 3.5) for 2013.
BGSU MULTI-YEAR APR SCORES (2013):
Ice Hockey – 968
Men's Basketball – 944
and Troll, do let us know the next time the hoops team sends two more Olympians, spreading so much excellent publicity about BGSU around the world...

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Re: Enough is Enough
Hockey may have a higher GPA, but they still have players that are ineligible. So, like I said men's basketball has no Mingo's. Also when was the last time hockey had a nationally televised game? Let's not get ahead of ourselves because once every few years BGSU Hockey gets a glimmer of attention. I get it you guys have your orange and brown glasses on, but don't be ignorant. Also new idea for the BGSU Ice Arena, USA Olympic ice skating training facility. Since you guys are so worried about Olympic attention I think this would be a good fit.
