Yet again, gunning for 20

Post by BleedOrange »

We're in the same loss-count situation as last year. Going into the final stretch of the season, we might've pulled off a 20-loss season if things would've went just right.

Right now, we're sitting out there with a cool 17 in the loss column with two remaining games and a guaranteed L in the "post-season". Our next opponent, Ohio, is motivated a to get good seed in the MAC. Our next opponent, Buffalo, is gunning for the #1 seed in the MAC.

It hurts to say this, I will take a bitter, poetic satisfaction if Orr rounds out his era of maddening mediocrity with a big, fat 20. I wish better for the players.

Too bad Lou hadn't lost 20 before this, we might have saved 3 years.

Iv been a season ticket holder for 7 years now and I'm starting to regret it. I know I am probably not the only one out there too. Many of us are done with this junk!

I was in the same boat for six years but finally had enough and pulled the plug after last season. Year after year I said I wasn't buying my tickets and every year I came crawling back like an idiot as hope got the best of me each new season. But not this year, I learned my lesson. To take a page out of Orr's book, if God wanted me to have tickets, they would have arrived in the mail without me paying for them. Well no such luck.

We have waited for this day for years and it's finally......FINALLY......here! This should have happened last year without a doubt and we should not have had to go through yet another season of this $hit. This game should also be a Fan Appreciation Game for the few actually left and tickets should be $1 - as in a dollar for each winning season under Orr!

I do hope we can close out his last home game with a win, I really do for him, the team and the fans, but I will not be sorry to see him go. And none of us should according to Orr himself. His post-game presser at the end of last season and the one earlier in the year solidified that. There were many questions I wish the reporters would have asked him about that we're never asked, but I do not want to hear them ask him again about his future. He answered "why should he be concerned" and that "he trusts in God" about all of that already, so if he's not worried or concerned, then why should we be? When it happens, it'll be what God wants to happen according to him and he'll be happy with it. And that will finally be something many of us can agree on with him and will be even more happy than he is. It's been a "forgettable" run, but "To God Be The Glory!" :prayer:

BGSU men's basketball is decent every so often - two or three years every 15 years. Put your entertainment dollars elsewhere.

I did not renew my tickets this year. To God be the glory for that. I have talked to many current ticket holders who aren't coming back next year. A few said they will buy the tickets, but not use them next year. Sad, sad situation.

I've been a season ticket holder for the past 4 years, and attended nearly every game buying full price tickets for years before that. I've probably attended 80-90% of the home games since 1998.

This year was just as boring and painful as the past 10 have been, but I didn't have real high hopes going in either. Orr should have been fired 2 years ago based on performance. He should have been fired last year, without a doubt, simply because lame duck coaches are a death sentence for a program (although with the AD situation I guess I do see the reasoning why he is still here).

I still enjoy going to the games. I've got good seats, it's a great building, and it's still basketball. I find myself not having time to watch as much as I used to, and these couple hours a week are still a good way to get out and do something during the winter blahs (which have been worse than ever this year!). Unfortunately the program has done little on the court to get me excited in more than a decade. I used to be excited for the games. I used to go on road trips to watch the team play. I used to buy tickets for the entire MAC tourney knowing that I'd get to watch some good college basketball for a few days, including at least one or two games from BG. Now, I cannot remember the last time I went to a road game...I think it was WMU 5-6 years ago, and THAT was just because it was a bored Saturday and we used it as an excuse to drive to Kalamazoo and check out Bell's. I can't remember the last time we won a MAC tournament game.

And on a larger scale than BG, and what I'm even more worried about when it comes to the future of this product, I cannot remember the last time the MAC produced a legitimate NBA player. Was it Chris Kaman? He played what, about 7-8 years ago? Yikes...

The only thing more sad than the abyss that BG hoops has fallen into is that the rest of the conference has jumped into that same abyss with them. I'm optimistic that we can find a new coach and revive OUR program, but I really do wish the MAC as a whole would commit more to the sport again. There was a time when we could watch guys like Antonio Daniels, Wally Szerbiak, Gary Trent, Bonzi Wells, Earl Boykins, etc. It seemed like every game had future NBA players involved. Now most of these games are no-scoring snoozefests. That's an indictment on the conference as a whole more than it is on BG...and THAT I'm worried may never change.

Good post hammb. Just about where I am in general. We buy our season tickets and will continue to do so. The venue is an excellent place to watch a game. I still see a very few road games and enjoy Cleveland tourney, but I also have a very strong interest in women's bball too which makes that all a little easier if you are a BG fan. I want to see MAC bball improve. More top players etc. I agree- WE will improve. No doubt.

John Edwards (2004 Kent State) played for the Pacers 2004-2006

Xavier Silas (2011 Northern Illinois) played 2 games for the 76ers

Also Brandon Hunter (2003 Ohio) and Theron Smith (2003 Ball State) also played in the NBA as well. Both for 1 season.

Well. A fitting end to the season, if Louie doesn't beat Buffalo on the road, he'll be losing 20 games.

It was great to see Shaun Joplin get a chance to play, and Zack Denny isn't listed on the roster.

Praise Geezus I have watched that man coach his last game.

Another silver lining - since we must now play on the road in the first round of the MAC Tournament, at least we won't lose a third consecutive first round MAC Tournament home game! ](*,)

It's official. BGSU loses to Buffalo 88-65. Now 12-19 going for their 20'th loss of the season.

Orr's improvement? He was 13-19 last year.

These are dark days in Bowling Green.
