Re: 46 years and counting.....long live 1968

Re: 46 years and counting.....long live 1968
I was only 3 but I have heard people say: He took about the same group Warren Schollar had had the prior year and won about 10 more games and came so close to winning their NCAA game vs Marquette. I still believe that group of players could have easily made the Elite Eight with a little luck. Fitch then went to the Big Ten >NBA. Great coach!!

I was not even one year old at the time. So needless to say, I don't remember it.

I was in Vietnam in 1968, and that is one of only three seasons I have basically missed since 1962. Hey, at least I saw us play in the NCAA in 1963.

Not to mention TWO home losses in that mix.BGSU33 wrote:Three years without even getting to Cleveland to add to the misery.
To me that's the real kick in the pants! This conference is "all about the tournament" and Coach Orr always under achieved in that aspect!

My parents were in elementary school last time we went to the NCAA tournament. I'm hoping I have kids in elementary school by the time we go again.

I missed that event as I was in school in Chicago. I didn't come back to Firelands until January of '70. In high school, I did watch the games on WTOL. I remember Ray Woolford playing for the "other' guys, but my first AA game wasn't until the '-70-71 season.
