Men's side - YES

Women's side - No. Triple Crown Sports runs the WNIT. Good group of people.

[quote from earlier in this thread] In case you wondered, I asked a question in the ESPN chat.

Jeremy (Bowling Green, OH)

Bowling Green is out, but teams like Oklahoma and Florida State are in? How does that work out?

Oklahoma and Florida State proved they could be tournament level competition. Bowling Green didn't. Losing by 17 in the semis of the MAC tournament is something that can't happen.
[end quote from earlier in this thread]

Here's what bothers me about this quote: Is Charlie saying that if that margin had been less than 17 (it was actually 18, BTW), that would've made a difference? The BGSU-Ball State game was an 8-point game with about 2 1/2 minutes to go - should we have stopped trying to catch up & just run some clock, so we'd only lose by 8?

I'm guessing Charlie is saying that a loss to Ball State in the semi's (no matter the margin) can't happen if a mid-major team like BGSU wants to get an at-large bid, but it bothers me greatly that there's no margin for error for a team as good as this year's BGSU team. According to the RPI & related criteria, BGSU had no bad losses -- NONE -- in the first 30 games. I wish the NCAA would just come out and say "These conferences will never get more than one team into the NCAA Championships." I'd still be angry, but at least we'd know where we stood.

The MAC ALWAYS gets screwed when it comes to the NCAA tournament. The women have a better record than some of the teams that made it into the tournament. It's complete and utter bullshit. The women should get to play every WNIT game at home just like Toledo did a year or two ago.

I wanted to believe badly this year would be different. Ranked #25 going into the tourney, 2-1 vs the Big Whatever, one bad game and we finish 27-4. The teams we lost to are all in the post season...Purdue and Marist in the dance and BSU and CMU in the WNIT.

What the F else does this program have to do to prove itself??? Look at our resume for the last DECADE. It reminds me of Boise State in football...no matter how good you are, it doesn't matter. NO WAY should BG have been left out. As in football, the bcs conferences get the treatment and we get dirt. Sick and tired of it.

I guess the thing to do is win the WNIT. F the NCAA. :finga:

Of note, the last two bubble teams selected over BG each lost in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament. One team ended up 18-15. Also of note, Akron lost to Purdue 84-55. I think BG would have fared better and would not have lost by 29.

Biggest problem is women playing on one of the team's home floor. Don't think this happens in the men's tourn. At least I don't recall any. It's a heck of an advantage for the home team.
