Today's scrimmage
Today's scrimmage
Coach Babers just tweeted that today's scrimmage at 11am in The Doyt is open to the public. Looking forward to seeing the Falcons Fly FAST! How appropriate.

Re: Today's scrimmage
Please give us updates! I am excited to see this team take the field.

Re: Today's scrimmage
I just got back from watching two hours of the scrimmage and I think they are still going! I'm not sure what I saw, other than a bunch of fumbles, pass interceptions, QB sacks, long runs, lots of passing, lots of touchdowns, just a whole lot of everything, but I do know this...........it was EXCITING and fun to watch!
Probably the funniest thing and a first for me at any level of football, is that Ronnie Moore actually had his pants ripped off on a tackle!
They ended up in pieces around his ankles.
This offense fits our skill guys perfectly as most of us expected. Looks like the offensive line has some catching up top do, as there were a number of sacks and motion, but I guess that is to be expected with only 6-7 practices under our belt. I saw more fun offensive football in two hours today than I have seen in 20 years of BG football. It wasn't always well done, but sure as hell, fun to watch!
The Falcons do Fly FAST as advertised, as we had a few plays going off in 6-7 seconds from the last whistle, so if it gets faster, I'm not sure my eyes will be able to keep up.

I forgot to mention.......the officials had a hard time keeping up, also! I'm hoping it wasn't a regular MAC crew.

I'm confident the regular officials will be worse.factman wrote:I forgot to mention.......the officials had a hard time keeping up, also! I'm hoping it wasn't a regular MAC crew.

EMU has a video up about the first 100 days under their new head coach. It would be nice if BG could do something like that.

I'll be more concerned if we're having these kind of issues in August. The summer will thankfully provide an opportunity for the OL and any other players struggling with the new system to likely hit the gym more regularly and I assume watch some film. I think Babers is pretty happy overall with things are at.

Re: Today's scrimmage
Interesting video. I have several times picked EMU as a MAC West dark horse because I believe where CMU was from 2006-2009, EMU can be with the right coach. I think they found their coach. The first big step is to get those guys believing they can win and not entering each season expecting to be in the cellar and so far so good. Think Vanderbilt under James Franklin. If he pans out, EMU will no longer be the cellar dweller of the west. That would probably be CMU.mscarn wrote:EMU has a video up about the first 100 days under their new head coach. Re: Today's scrimmage
RichRod didn't blow up a decent team...that team was heading south before he got there. Hoke took Rodriguez' players and won 10 games in his first year...and they've gotten worse each of the following two years.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I now have a new found interest in colonial American and the history of New England!
Sounds like they have a coach invested in his team and he's doing and saying a lot of good things. It'll be interesting to see what results he gets. Turning around that tradition of losing has to be a huge undertaking.
