It would be nice to see the student section packed thursday

Post by DustinXtreme »

Still trying to figure out why the student section isn't packed for each home game. There's no excuse for it. I asked the Bleacher Creatures on FB and their excuse was that someone told them that hockey is their thing and they should stick with it.....

No doubt hockey has cut into basketball attendance. After the championship in '84. Anderson attendance slowly declined....Does EMU have hockey?

Well, there should be NO excuse for Thursday...someone made a contribution that allows all students in FREE (and no I don't mean it's coming out of their student fees)... not that the $5 previous charge should have caused major problems before...and even then 100 freebies were available... We'd talked about coming up for the game but are doing a family thing with our grandkids that day, and wouldn't have time to get to BG....

It was nice when the arena was on campus. As foolish as it sounds, our fair weather fans don't want to walk out there in 32 degree weather.

Michigan is the opponent, its name program unlike High Point or St. Bonaventure (no disrespect to either, its just the truth). I expect a larger student crowd then the last two games

The university shuttles stop at the Stroh as part of their route. The shuttle also stops at every residents hall. No one has to walk outside if they don't want to.

attendance is down for hockey too, even with a vastly improved team.
not sure where the missing hoops fans have gone, but the hockey program didn't kidnap them. ;-)

I seen a post by the Falcon Fanatics page on Facebook, students are pretty much being bribed to come out to the game on Thursday. Offering free pizza to the first 200 students and Kroger is raffling off gift cards for students.

Students shouldn't need incentives to attend a game. They should come support the team anyways, the way I see it is if you're not going to come support the team during the regular season then don't come support them at tournament time.

Haha ! You don't know how close that almost happened. But we'd committed awhile back, wouldn't have been right. (We had even reserved a room at the H.I., then cancelled. \:D/
