MARCH 31, 2014
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Ben Greiner has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Bowling Green State University. Bowling Green is a member of the Western Collegiate Athletic Association (WCHA).

Greiner, 20, just completed his first regular season in the NAHL. The native of Newport Beach, California, led the Killer Bees in scoring this season with 51 points (22 goals, 29 assists) in 60 games played. The Killer Bees finished 3rd in the NAHL South Division and will face Topeka in the South Division Semi-Finals.

Greiner (6’1/190) was also selected to play on Team South at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament back in February. Prior to this season, Greiner had played for Shattuck St. Mary’s prep school followed by stints in both the BCHL and USHL before finding a home in the NAHL with Rio Grande Valley.

Back on October 28th, Greiner was named the NAHL’s South Division Star of the Week. “Ben has been very dedicated and been a great leader in the lockerroom for this team,” said Rio Grande head coach Joe Coombs. “He works hard for every thing he gets. He is playing well and staying consistent every game.”

Greiner is the fourth active player on the Killer Bees roster this season who is committed to an NCAA Division I program, joining teammates Dylan Abood (Air Force), Joe Llaurado (Army) and Sean Mostrom (Denver).

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Other than Ben Geelen (2004-08) can anybody name another "BG" to play here?
For some reason, I'm thinking there was another, but just cant come up with a name.

This is an open book test, right? I checked the media guide, and no other B.G.'s listed. Only 9 players whose last names begin with "G".
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

I just got my sports and teams confused.
Was thinking of former Cleveland Indian Brian Giles.
Please excuse the Senior moment.
