It would seem that we could cut ticket prices and concessions now to fill the Stroh Center to get fans hooked on basketball until we can build a winner. Imagine having 2500 fans or more in the arena!

I have a much better idea: winning games! It's the bottom line folks - we need to start winning again. If we win, more students will start to show up little by little, more locals will start coming back who have turned away, and more alums or out-of-town fans/alums will trickle back. We could make tickets .25 cents and make all concessions a dollar and it wouldn't make a damn bit of good unless we get this fixed and turned around. We must start winning again. Period. And the rest will follow. If we don't, we'll continue to see more of the same. It's what it all boils down to at this point.

Agree. Dollar tickets never sold the arena out. I think the price and value of the event always need to be evaluated along with promotions such as dollar dog days but don't under value the program by giving tickets away. Time to market and event plan with winning basketball on the horizon.

Part of the price of a basketball game is the time out of your life you take to go see it. $1 tickets can never compensate someone for 2 hours of losing, uninspired basketball.

I wonder if this former faculty member has made a declaration in his will for his former department at the university.

Perhaps the University will take some money out of the budget that was allocated for athletics and put it towards other areas at the University. Then again, I would happily write a similar letter complaining that the guaranteed raises faculty are getting as part of the CBA are causing faculty and staff cuts and also essentially guaranteeing that, as a staff member, I will not be getting any raise at the end of the year. Thank you so much, oh wonderful faculty.

Would the athletic department, complain if the History department received a gigantic gift? Would the Biology complain if the Chemistry department received a large gift? And even if they did, nothing could be done about it because it's a gift that is designated to a specific thing. And before somebody says, "They University could have said they didn't want the gift for basketball and would rather have it towards the general fund," you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. You graciously accept the gift and continue looking for ways to increase University giving.

Socialists don't want or care about a difference -- and most of these folks would prefer that system over the one that allowed folks like Frack and others to make those donations after years of hard work.

How else do you explain a system that rewards everyone equally and not based on hard work, relevance or merit?
