We usually devote this to football ( and I've heard nothing about any FB verbals so far) . Looks like WMU is off and running again with 5-6 verbals already.
But my real interest is where are BG's roundball recruits? I know our new coach has been busy getting a staff together, but KSU for example, has SIX new faces for next yr., tho 2 are transfers who had to sit out a yr.
Biggest plus is that we've not LOST anyone, as several MAC schools have. Just hoping to see some positive player news.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Spring signing period opened April 16 and runs to like May 21. A lot of player movement around the nation with NBA commitments, transfers, and commitments. No word yet and the recruiting sites show absolutely zero for new targets or offers. I really think this is a result of a later start for Jans and the absolutely failure of Orr to attract any quality prospects this year.

Sorry but can we let this ridiculous blaming of Orr die. The fact he was in the last year of a contract that was not going to be renewed allowed anybody recruiting against him to have the upper hand. Stop blaming the guy for holding out for one more year's pay or the buyout that never happened. If I had his contract I would have drained it for every dollar too.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
If Orr had loaded up the roster with the type of players he had in the past, then we'd be bitching about his recruits that are dead weight to the program.
Let's be practical. I'd be happy with a .500 season next year. I clearly don't expect the Falcons to be overnight winners with the current team, so anything more will be a bonus. If coach Jans can make it happen by great recruiting, then he's COY material. If we had a strong PG, we may have a winning team on the bench. It's hard to tell because we never saw 3 players last season. They may turn into good players. Jans may be able to motivate and teach these guys better that our former coaching staff. I'm betting on that.

I think it's good that Orr didn't use all the scholarships, but so far as being critical of the man and his coaching: he deserves all the bad comments he gets. He was truly awful, and helped set this program back at least several years. Of course, not all the blame is his...he should never have been given an extension.

We can keep beating on him for the past or move this program forward. Graveyards are full of the past and I would prefer we look to the future at BG rather than make it home to grave markers of past mistakes. Orr could not recruit anything worth keeping this past year based on his contract position. Even the one early signee has cleared out and now we are in the fortunate position of starting fresh with a new coach. From this point forward nothing is Coach Orr's fault it is now a matter of how quickly can Coach Jans make BG his program. Time to get on board folks.

My original point was not so much Orr bashing but to show that Jans is in a tight spot. Late to the party in that most higher level prospects are signed or signing and Orr left us with no real prospects that the staff was courting. So I agree with you that next year is a challenge. If you look at all the BB recruiting sites, there is now not one prospect for BG and in fact there were few ever noted during the year. Almost every other school in the MAC has multiple prospects for each opening for not only 2014 but 2015 as well. We are starting from the dregs but I believe that Jans is the type of coach that can turnaround this team. There is a lot of experience in the starting five that with the right guidance could provide a surprise.
